Lautner's going to prison

Taylor Lautner has attached himself to prison fantasy film 'Incarceron'.
The 'Twilight' hunk will play Finn, a young man determined to escape from the futuristic prison world that he is living in. However, he finds a crystal key that allows him to talk to his captor's daughter, who is herself trapped in a medieval word.
The pair fall in love and plot their respective escapes.
(It sounds... interesting)
The film will be based on Catherine Fisher's young adult novel, and Adam Cooper and Bill Collage are on screenwriting duties.
Lautner is currently working on the final 'Twilight' movie, 'Breaking Dawn'. Fans can also see him in forthcoming 'Bourne'-style thriller 'Abduction'.

Bay admits 'Transformers' failure

Michael Bay has admitted he failed on 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'.
Last year's sequel was blasted by critics for being too long and full of awkward comedy sequences, including two 'jive-talking' robots that were accused of being racial caricatures.
However, Bay has admitted that he "failed on certain aspects".
He said, "We tried to learn from the second movie. On the second movie we got burned. We had a writers strike, we had to agree on a story in three weeks, and then we knew they were going on strike.
"It was a bad scenario all around; it wasn't fair to the writer; it wasn't fair to me; it wasn't fair to anybody. It was still an entertaining movie, but I think we failed on certain aspects. What we did with this movie is I think we have a much better script, and we got back to basics. ... It's more serious. I got rid of the dorky comedy; I mean we've got two little characters, that's it, but the dorkiness is not there. Dork-free 'Transformers'. It's much more serious. It's still entertaining; it's big looking."
Bay has also confirmed that next summer's third entry, 'Dark of the Moon' will be his last 'Transformers' movie.
He said, "I think this has gotta be it. I think someone else will take the torch from here. It's just that I don't think you could do it again with Shia (LaBeouf) and everybody, I think it's time to move on."

Russell Brand to Lead ‘Rentaghost’ Remake

Russell Brand is being courted to star in a movie update of spooky British children’s show Rentaghost.

Warner Bros have just acquired the rights to the television series, which aired on the BBC between 1976 and 1984, and followed a company who rent out ghosts.

Brand is expected to take on the role of Fred Mumford, who the folks at Wikipedia describe as “a recently deceased loser who feels he can find work for ghosts whose lives were as failed as his”.

Mumford recruits Timothy Claypole, a technophobic jester and Victorian gent Hubert Davenport to his cause. Plenty of crafty casting opportunities there, then.

Brand will next make an appearance in Shakespeare update The Tempest, as well as a remake of Arthur.

Thor gets a poster

Thor will smash his way onto the big screen when his first movie enters cinemas next year.

And Marvel aren’t about to let us forget it. A few images from the comic adap cropped up online earlier this year, and now the film’s first poster has been revealed.

Dark, simplistic and moody, it downplays the campiness that the project has been accused of, and really plays around with texture – from the big guy’s metallic suit to the red cape and the stone hammer.

Thor follows the titular God, an arrogant warlord who’s tried his father Odin’s (Anthony Hopkins) patience too many times. Banished to Earth, Thor must learn how to live among humans – which isn’t as bad as all that after he meets gorgeous scientist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman).

Here’s the poster…

Ridley Scott's Alien prequel details emerge

A flood of new details on Ridley Scott's two-part Alien prequel have emerged courtesy of a report by Vulture.

For starters, perhaps the biggest news is that the prequel will be known as Paradise (no more of this Untitled Alien Prequel business). It's certainly bold, and sure not to please everyone, but is it going to help mark this out as a totally new direction for the franchise?

The plot will centre on a group of space travellers who encounter a xenomorph, before it made its way onto the Nostromo. An earlier version of the Bishop android is set to appear, so maybe Lance Henriksen is going to get the same de-ageing treatment Jeff Bridges has had for TRON: Legacy.

Vulture's source is also stating that the release dates of the 3D prequels will not be moving from 2013 to 2014, as has recently been mooted.

The final bit of juicy news is the claim that Scott is angling for Michael Fassbender and Michelle Yeoh to star alongside Noomi Rapace (who's considered to be a shoo-in for the lead role).

It could be fantasy casting at this point (what director wouldn't want Fassbender in their movie?) but it's an extremely tantalising possibility.

The prospect of revisiting the franchise is becoming ever more appealing. Let's just hope that Sir Ridders does his baby justice...

Transformers 3 trailer

The first trailer for Michael Bay’s 3D threequel Transformers: Dark Of The Moon has gone online.

And, well, it’s actually not that bad. In fact, it's a little bit good.
After the disastrously overbloated Transformers 2, it looks like director Bay might make good on his promise to get back to a decent story with this third, and possibly final, robotic smash-up.

This new trailer gifts Transformers 3 with a context and a basic plot, cleverly tying real history in with a story about, yuhuh, big, giant robots.

Wachowskis taking on modern day Robin Hood film

Wachowski siblings Andy and Lana are returning to Warner Bros. in order to make Hood, a “modern, urban take” on the Robin Hood legend.

THR report that the duo have already completed work on the film’s script, and will take it on as a directing job – their first since 2008’s Speed Racer.

Which means that their other projects Cobalt Neural 9 and Cloud Atlas are on the back burner for now. They’ve already shot bits of footage for the former, though finding financing has been tricky, while the latter has attracted a formidable cast.

Will Smith has been approached regarding a role in Hood, alongside a collection of other acting talent. But we can't help asking the question - do we really need another Robin Hood film, especially after this year's Ridley-Russell debacle?

With the Wachowskis transporting the tale to modern day, this could end up resembling Tim Blake Nelson’s O, a modern re-telling of Othello. We’re already imagining Hood as a down and out wannabe rapper who gets into hijacking banks to help his down-on-their-luck homies...

Cate Blanchett joins The Hobbit

Cate Blanchett is returning to Middle Earth for an appearance in Peter Jackson’s upcoming The Hobbit two-hander.

Blanchett of course appeared in Jackson’s The Lord Of The Rings as Galadriel, who Frodo encounters on his quest to destroy the One Ring.

Jackson’s happy, stating: “Cate is one of my favourite actors to work with and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have her reprise the role she so beautifully brought to life in the earlier films.”

Still, Blanchett’s appearance will come as a surprise to Hobbit book fans, as the character of Galadriel doesn’t actually appear in Tolkien’s original tome. She does, however, crop up in other Middle Earth material, which Jackson has reportedly stitched into his Hobbit films.

Alongside Blanchett, a raft of other castings have been confirmed, including Ken Scott as dwarf lord Balin, Sylvester McCoy as wizard Radagast the Brown, Mikael Persbrandt as Beorn, Ryan Gage as Drogo Baggins, and Jed Brophy and William Kircher as dwarfs Nori and Bifur.

Six sinister Hollywood curses

Unexplained deaths, mysterious accidents and spooky incidents - sounds like your average Hollywood horror film, right? But no, these sinister goings-on happened behind the camera rather than in front of it on these films.

Sinister, mere coincidence or just pure hokum? Decide for yourselves as we look at 6 (66) supposedly cursed films.

‘Poltergeist’

According to those working on the film, the ‘swimming pool full of skeletons’ scene actually had real corpses instead of fake ones (apparently it was to create real life tension for the actors).
Following this, a series of incidents - several of them tragic - involving those who worked on the production has led many to label ‘Poltergeist’ the most cursed franchise of all time.
Flickering lights on set and objects reportedly moving around by themselves were just for starters. 22-year-old actress Dominique Dunne was murdered by her boyfriend shortly after the film’s release, while 12-year-old Heather O’Rourke died of septic shock while filming the third ‘Poltergeist’ movie. Two other actors from the series also died around that time – which equals four actors in the franchise dying within six years of each other.

‘Superman’

The curse of ‘Superman’ is said to read as thus: “If you’re playing the strongest man on Earth, you will die or end up in the weakest position possible.”
Christopher Reeve was of course paralysed after a horse riding accident, and died nine years later from heart failure. George Reeves played the costumed superhero in the ‘50s TV series, but when his career stalled he shot himself dead.

Lee Quigley, who played an infant Superman in the 1978 movie, died from inhaling solvents when he was 14.

While Brandon Routh has survived the curse, it seems his career has also stalled since ‘Superman Returns’. (See also Dean Cain). And it’s not just those who play Superman that are said to he have been struck by the curse – Margot Kidder, Richard Pryor, stuntmen and injured riders on the ‘Superman: Ride of Steel’ theme park ride are also said to be victims of the hex.

No wonder Ashton Kutcher refused to play Superman because of the supposed curse.

‘The Exorcist’

Of all the life lessons you should learn, one essential one would be not to annoy the devil. Case in point – the ‘Exorcist’ movie.

Some family members of the actors died during the film's production, as did several crew members. Jack McGowen, who had filmed a small part in the movie, also died from a heart attack shortly after wrapping on the film. And there is also the humdinger that a set caught fire overnight when there was no one there. Other creepy on-set accidents spooked those who worked on the film so much that a real life priest performed a blessing on the set.

‘The Omen’

A series of accidents plagued the shoot of the classic 1976 horror. One incident featured lions attacking a guard a day after the film crew visited the zoo.

Actor Gregory Peck was flying to London when his plane was hit by lightning. Eight hours later, a plane carrying the screenwriter, David Seltzer, was also hit by lightning. A private jet, which was meant to carry some of the crew members, set off without them after the airline double booked. It was a lucky escape for the film crew, as the jet ended up crashing onto a road – killing all on board.

A stuntman who worked on the film performed an everyday stunt on another movie, but was hospitalised after he seemingly misjudged the jump. He later claimed he felt he had been pushed.

The most notorious incident, however, saw a special effects worker being involved in a car accident in Holland, which saw his female passenger beheaded.

As the story goes, after stumbling out of the wreckage, he saw a road sign, which read ‘Ommen, 66.6 km’.

‘Atuk’

Never heard of this comedy, which features an Eskimo trying to live in New York? That’s because it never got made, and with good reason.

The script was written in the ‘70s with one performer in mind – John Belushi. The funny man was preparing for the role when he tragically died from a drug overdose.

The role was then handed to Sam Kinison a few years later. After working on the film for half a day, Kinison demanded changes to the script and the movie was put on hold. He died two years later in a car crash.
John Candy was next in line for the part, and was in the process of reading the script when he died of a heart attack.

Undeterred, the filmmakers then offered the part to Chris Farley. Not only was Farley interested, but he also handed the script to Phil Hartman in the hope he would also work on the film with him. Both died soon after.

‘The Dark Knight’

It’s only been out for two years, but it’s already been named as another film that has been plagued by a curse.

There is of course the death of Heath Ledger from an accidental overdose, while Christian Bale was involved in several high-profile incidents – one involving his infamous ‘Terminator Salvation’ rant and the other seeing him arrested before the film’s premiere after a row with his mother and sister.

When Morgan Freeman was involved in a serious car accident, it led to many media outlets claiming there was a hex surrounding the movie.

Throw in the fact that a crew member died during one of the film’s action sequences, and we can speculate that this caped crusader may indeed be cursed.

Crowe wants 'Master and Commander' sequel

Russell Crowe wants a sequel to his seafaring epic 'Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World'.
The 2003 movie was based on the long running book series featuring the dashing Jack Aubrey. Crowe loved playing the character, and is desperate to reprise one of his most famous roles.

And after being bombarded by fans of the film on his Twitter page, he wrote: "If you want a 'Master and Commander' sequel I suggest you e-mail Tom Rothman at Fox and let him know your thoughts.”
And his plea to fans seems to have worked.

After being deluged by posts, a representative for the studio twittered, "Getting a lot of tweets about Master & Commander sequel, I’ll look into it (I’d love one, too, but as you all know a LOT goes into it.)”
Crowe has spoken in the past on how he would like to play Aubrey again, and even joked, "My wife wants me to make 'Master and Commander 2 - she kinda liked that costume."

Michel Gondry talks Thorn In My Heart

Michel Gondry’s new documentary, The Thorn In My Heart, sheds light on his own family as he follows his aunt Suzette as she comes to terms with her relationship with her gay son.
But it also gives fans an insight into Gondry’s internal life and where his own brand of quirky genius was born.

“You can see in the landscapes of the place of where my aunty has lived all her life, you can see my inspiration,” Gondry told Total Film. “So people who like my videos and my work can see where it came from.”

The film was also a cathartic and positive experience for The Green Hornet helmer. “It’s really the other side of the spectrum of film, the opposite side of The Green Hornet. It’s something that means a lot to me.”

And Gondry believes documentary has an important role to play in cinema. “You don’t get to see so much real people onscreen, it’s usually about fantasy to try to capture audience attention. To spend an hour and half with this character who is really, deeply human is really refreshing.”

The Thorn In My Heart opens on 10th December

Iron Man 3 will be sequel to Thor and The Avengers

Jon Favreau has talked again about the status of Iron Man 3, stating that the threequel will be a continuation of the big screen adventures of Thor, Hulk, Captain America and The Avengers.

While promoting new movie Cowboys & Aliens, the director discussed how the story of Iron Man 3 would be entirely dependent on the fall-out of the other Marvel movies coming out next year.

“Kevin Feige, who’s been involved with superhero movies with Marvel movies since the X-Men films, is very aware of his path and how to weave [things together],” says Favs.

“So in theory, Iron Man 3 is going to be a sequel or continuation of Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Avengers… This whole world… I have no idea what it is. I don’t think they do either, from conversations I’ve had with those guys.”

This much we pretty much already knew, but it’s good to hear it from the horse’s mouth.

Though Favreau is still yet to fully commit to a third Iron Man, we assume he’ll need to get started on a script soon if he wants to avoid a repeat of Iron Man 2 – which was criticised by audiences for not having a strong enough story.

Iron Man 3 is scheduled for release on 3 May, 2013.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart 'spend 12 hours having sex'

The couple, who are believed to be dating in real life, asked for more nudity while shooting the racy scene, according to Life & Style.

SPOILER ALERT!!

It was thought to have been the first of three sex scenes between Pattinson's brooding vampire hunk Edward and Stewart's human Bella.

This particular scene, which sees Edward bite down on a pillow in order to stop himself biting into Bella, takes place during their honeymoon after the couple finally get hitched.

Pattinson recently told Now magazine that filming love scenes was not erotic in any way.

'By the time you guys see the nude scenes it looks really erotic because it's been edited and you'll have the music.'

'What you don't see is the eight cameramen, the director and about 50 people on set.'

'The truth is you come out of your dressing room in a little robe and know that in a few minutes you're going to be taking it off in front of a load of people.'

George Lucas 'wants to bring James Dean back to life'

A friend of Lucas', British comedian Mel Smith, said he plans to put all the actors on a movie at the same time, using computer know-how to resurrect stars including Orson Welles, James Dean and Marilyn Monroe.

Smith, who fronted TV skit show Smith & Jones with fellow comic Griff Rhys-Jones, told The Sun Lucas is 'obsessed' with computer-generated imagery (CGI).

'George has been buying up the film rights to dead actors in the hope of using computer trickery to put them all together, so you'd have Orson Welles and Barbara Stanwyck alongside today's stars,' he said.

Lucas is an expert in CGI animation, having used the technology extensively during production on Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The film came out in 2008 and was followed by a TV series of the same name, which has been airing since then. Speaking about the series when it was first launched, Stuart Snyder, president/chief operating officer at Turner Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media, said: 'Nothing like this has ever been produced for television.' He added: 'For 30 years, Star Wars has shown that it appeals to a huge breadth of fans. The Clone Wars ... will be appointment television for everyone in the family.'

Tangled breaks Harry Potter’s spell at box office

Disney’s CGI fairytale Tangled has finally knocked Harry Potter from the box office top spot in its second week of release.

The Rapunzel-inspired yarn took $21.5m during its second weekend, dwarfing Harry Potter’s $16.7m and forcing it into second place.

Cher and Christina Aguilera glitz-fest Burlesque jumped up a spot to third with $6.1m, while Unstoppable held firm in fourth with the same. Rounding out the top five was Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal’s saucy Love And Other Drugs ($5.7m).

Meanwhile, Megamind slipped all the way from third to sixth ($5m), Due Date went up a place in seventh ($4.2m), Faster sat in eighth ($3.8m) and new opener The Warrior’s Way entered the charts in ninth with just $3m.

Rounding out the top ten, Russell Crowe’s drama The Next Three Days dropped just one place to tenth with $2.6m.

Next week, Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie inject some A-list glamour into the box office with The Tourist. But where will they land?

Simpsons movie sequel already has basic story

The Simpsons executive producer James L. Brooks has revealed that a basic plotline already exists for a second Simpsons movie, should the show’s team ever broach a follow-up.

Talking with Coming Soon, Brooks said that the Simpsons players have a “beginning notion” for a movie sequel, but the “series always comes first with us”.

“We're open to it,” he says about a follow-up, though he admits that the first film “was much harder than we anticipated. It took us a year to try and get to the point because we're all so scared of 'What are we going to do to the Simpsons' and 'What if the movie is no good?'”

He adds: “It was a huge success and we're very open to it and we have a beginning notion if we want to do it, but the series always comes first with us. The series is always primary to us.”

Considering The Simpsons Movie was a huge success when it opened in 2007, we’re sure 20th Century Fox are keen to get another film onto the starting blocks. But with the show still going strong in its 22nd season, it seems they’d be lucky to get a sequel any time soon…

Danny Boyle says Trainspotting sequel “will happen”

Danny Boyle has spoken out about the possibility of making a movie sequel to Trainspotting, revealing that “it will happen, I think”.

A book sequel to his break-out 1996 hit Trainspotting already exists - Porno, written by Irvine Welsh - and has long been rumoured to be making its way to the big screen.

But only now is Boyle confirming that it could become a possibility, hopefully with many of Trainspotting’s original cast all returning.

“It will happen, I think,” he tells Cinematical. “I mean, we’ll approach them all again about it, but it will depend on what place they’re all at.

“We have a very strong idea that it would be a wonderful thing to reapproach, to do again, when they have aged clearly into a mid-life kind of crisis, basically. They’re not quite there yet, I don’t think.”

Porno is set some years after Trainspotting, and features all the main characters from that earlier story. Clearly, Boyle is waiting for Ewan McGregor, Kelly McDonald et al to reach the right age to realistically make a sequel.

Boyle, however, agrees that the source material for the sequel isn’t quite as good as the source material for Trainspotting, though he remains hopeful that with a little tweaking it could become brilliant.

Porno is not a great book in the way that Trainspotting, the original novel, is genuinely a masterpiece, I think, as a piece of writing. But we have been doing some work on it, and it’s got potential, yeah, for sure. And when the moment’s right, I think we will approach it.”

Stars who met on set

Ahh, Hollywood romances. The cynics among us may say it helps when a film’s leading co-stars have punters guessing whether their on-screen chemistry spilled over into the trailer on the way out. But aside from putting bums on seats, a rumoured romance can help with pesky gay gossip, and make the most forgettable middle-aged actress suddenly seem appealing again.
But we’re not always cynical, so here are our favourite Hollywood hook-ups that lasted longer than Jennifer Aniston and her latest co-star.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth – The Last Song (2010)

Young love can be so touching to witness, but really no one wants their first love broadcast for everyone to scrutinise, do they? Miley Cyrus clearly couldn’t help it when she fell for unknown Australian actor Liam Hemsworth in this year’s teen romance, ‘The Last Song’. The pair gushed about each other during press conferences and interviews, with Miley happily reporting she’d fallen in love with Liam to anyone who’d listen. Liam consequently catapulted from Hollywood obscurity (he’s a ‘Neighbours’ alumnus) to instant fame (OK, maybe we are being a little cynical).

That was 2010, where are they now? Well rumour has it the love birds are going through a rough patch. Liam was papped recently in the arms of another, and within days the incriminating picture was broadcast on every entertainment site and TV show in America. Looks like the young lovers have sung their last song together.

Carey Mulligan and Shia LaBeouf – Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010)
The pint-sized duo met on the set of Oliver Stone’s second ‘Wall Street’ film which will be released in the UK at the end of September. Carey has shot to fame after her stint in ‘An Education’ which won her Oscar attention and instant celebrity status with a Hollywood boyfriend to boot.

That was 2009, where are they now? Refreshingly both young stars are fairly private and although they don’t make front page tabloid news, they are still together.

Sam Taylor-Wood and Aaron Johnson – Nowhere Boy (2009)

There were two camps of people who voiced their opinion when director Sam Taylor-Wood got it together with her leading lad Aaron Johnson, 23 years her junior, on the set of her BAFTA nominated film ‘Nowhere Boy’. One camp were pro the 42-year-old doing it for the divorced single women, while the less liberal camp felt she’d taken advantage of her teenage star, and were not happy when the pair quickly fell pregnant. And public opinion nose-dived further when he awkwardly discussed taking care of Sam’s kids with school-run duties, on what became known as one of the worst-ever Jonathan Ross chat show interviews.

That was 2009, where are they now? Despite the furore over babies and age-gaps, the pair are very much still together with baby girl Wylda Rae born in July this year, the third child for Sam, and first for Aaron.

Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron – High School Musical 1,2,3 (2006-2008)

Are they, aren’t they? It was all we could talk about when the ‘HSM’ bandwagon was in full swing a couple of years ago. It seemed like a match made in high school heaven - after all, they were two young Hollywood kids thrust into superstardom after their Disney TV movie hit the big time, surprising everyone. It really couldn’t have been any more perfect, especially since Efron was being hounded with rumours about his sexuality.
That was 2008, where are they now? Do we care? A new teen franchise obsession came along and spawned a fresher, edgier are they/aren’t they conundrum in the form of ‘Twilight’s’ Kristen Stewart and her vampire boyfriend Robert Pattinson. So frankly we don’t care, but if you must know, yes they’re still very happy after returning from a holiday together in Hawaii.

Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal – Rendition (2007)

We cried for days when Ryan Phillippe did the dirty on his beautiful wife Reese Witherspoon and hooked up with his young, blonde ‘Stop-Loss’ co-star Abbie Cornish. Somehow Reese pulled it together and took everyone’s breath away at the 2007 Golden Globes ceremony, with the now-infamous canary-yellow cocktail dress. The sweet Southern girl single-handedly made a fringe cool again and everyone gawped in awe and simultaneously forgot who Ryan what’s-his-name was forever more. Enter the handsome, credible and younger actor Jake Gyllenhaal, and the Reese restoration period was complete. Even Ryan what’s-his-name couldn’t deny it made sense, and gave the couple his blessing.

That was 2007, where are they now? It pains us to say, but this seemingly picture-perfect pairing are no longer an item. Boo! It was all going so well with Reese’s kids receiving ‘Dark Knight’ set goodies from Jake’s sister Maggie, but alas in December last year the pair admitted they had parted company amicably.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt – Mr & Mrs Smith (2005)

Nearly everyone with a remote interest in entertainment and film knows how this one went down, and that’s just embarrassing… for Jen. What seemed like a brilliant idea by producers at the time, to put together the biggest (and sexiest) male and female actors, backfired somewhat when the on-screen chemistry spilled over into real life, despite Brad already being one half of America’s favourite couple. The pair denied anything happened on set, but in 2008 Jennifer Aniston broke her silence with one simple line in an edition of Vogue, “What Angelina did was uncool,” which pretty much said it all.
That was 2005, where are they now? Those five words were sent to bitch-slap all over Ms Jolie, but it didn’t bring the Ange down, she’s still with Brad and their brood of six kids, but are they really happy? The pair dodge break-up rumours every week if you believe the tabloid magazines.

Sienna Miller and Jude Law – Alfie (2004)

Jude Law’s love life has a habit of filling tabloid columns and his relationship ups and downs with Sienna Miller have been no different. The insanely attractive couple first met while filming ‘Alfie’ in 2004 when Sienna was 23 and Jude was 32 with three children by wife Sadie Frost. Cue Sienna backlash, but despite the odds the couple stuck together and became engaged to marry until Nanny-gate in 2005 saw him publicly condemned for cheating on the gorgeous Sienna with his children’s nanny.

That was 2004, where are they now? The pair reunited in December 2009 for a holiday with Jude’s family, and officially announced their togetherness in May this year. But Jude really is never far from a scandal, and this year saw the birth of his fourth child after a short relationship. Despite all this the couple who make perfect sense in the looks department are rumoured to be marrying before the year is out.

Courteney Cox and David Arquette – Scream (1996)

Who knew the set of a slasher movie could produce the right environment for love to flourish? Well it certainly proved to work for these two who have since married, had a child and filmed a further three ‘Scream’ movies together, the latest of which is currently being made. The pair actually first met when David guest-starred on an episode of Courteney’s TV show ‘Friends’ just before ‘Scream’ was released.

That was 1996, where are they now? Believe it or not, this is one working Hollywood couple that have made it past the ten-year mark, although rumour has it with a fair share of turbulence. We’ll wait to see what the chemistry is like between Dewey and Gale in ‘Scream 4’ next year.

Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise – Days of Thunder (1990)

It was a fast-track wedding when these two Hollywood heavyweights met while filming ‘Days of Thunder’ in 1990. On Christmas Eve of the same year they walked down the aisle in Colorado and adopted children Isabella and Connor within five years of marriage. The pair went on to make sexual thriller ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ in 1999 fuelling public interest in their relationship and sex life, but split soon after the film was released, just after their 10-year wedding anniversary.

That was 1990, where are they now? Tom filed for divorce in February 2001 and went on to date Penelope Cruz and Katie Holmes (who he later married). Nicole continued to proclaim her love for Tom but ultimately went on to marry country singer Keith Urban in 2006, and the couple have a baby daughter together.

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell – Swing Shift (1983)

Here’s a Hollywood love story to warm the hearts of the coldest cynic. The pair first met while filming ‘The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band’ in 1968, but at the time Goldie was on the verge of marrying her first husband. Skip ahead two divorces and two children for Goldie, and one divorce and one child for Kurt, and the couple met again on the set of the 1983 film ‘Swing Shift’ and the rest is history.

That was 1983, where are they now? The couple have one son together and as far as we can tell have been happy ever since, with Goldie’s famous daughter Kate Hudson speaking publicly about calling Kurt her dad.

Dreamworks Animated Movies Seeing Several Sequels

We all know that Hollywood is a business - nay, a machine, and that sequels are a regular thing. The pursuit of art is often pushed aside for the pursuit of dollar signs. Still, the latest sequel plans for Dreamworks Animation would make even the most money-hungry Hollywood producer blush.
Let's start small. Madagascar came out in 2005 and saw a follow-up in 2008's Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. Madagascar 3 is scheduled for release on May 18, 2012, and it will leave the story open for a fourth film to come and tie everything up. What happened to good ole trilogies?

Next up we have Kung Fu Panda, which I thought was surprisingly decent. We already know that a sequel is on the way, scheduled for release on May 27, 2011. But that won't be the end of the series, not by a long shot, as current plans call for four more films, giving us six films in total.

Finally we have How to Train Your Dragon, which was a fantastic little gem and well-deserving of a sequel. It's getting one, too, with a tentative date set somewhere in 2013. How to Train Your Dragon is the most vaguely planned out so far, and the idea is being thrown around that there could be as many as eight chapters. This matches the number of books in Cressida Cowell's series, of which How to Train Your Dragon is the first. Doing as many films as there are books would make sense, had the first film not deviated so much from the source material, somewhat becoming its own thing.

Wow, just wow. I understand the need to plan ahead, and I love CGI films, but I don't these cows will survive all this milkin

First Pirates of the Caribbean 4 footage online

The first footage from Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has been revealed.

US TV show Entertainment Tonight had a set visit, and revealed some exclusive footage ahead of the release of the official trailer, which is due to be unveiled mid-December.

The footage doesn't give too much away (there's a lot of repetitive guff from the presenters), but what we do see is intriguing.

For starters, there's the first decent glimpse of Penelope Cruz as Angelica, and we get a look at Ian McShane as Blackbeard.

A carriage-hopping scene looks like it harks back to the old-fashioned fun of the first outing, and, as ever, Johnny Depp looks like he's having a ball as Jack Sparrow.

In related news, Hitfix are reporting that installments 5 and 6 in the mega-franchise are due to shoot back to back. Apparently Disney are very happy with the job that incumbent director Rob Marshall has done, and are telling the cast and crew to set aside time for the huge double follow-up.

Let's hope they don't jump the gun and make the same mistakes they made with sequels 2 and 3.

Is 'Red Riding Hood' the next 'Twilight'?

Supernatural elements, a brooding love triangle in between lustful glances and swooping quick-cut shots of woodland scenery – how desperate is 'Red Riding Hood' to capitalise on the success of 'Twilight'?

The teaser trailer of the forthcoming horror film, which is loosely based on the famous fairytale, opens with two lovers bemoaning their fateful romance in a forest, with sun flitting in through the trees and pained looks at each other. It's a near-perfect recreation of the now pretty iconic Bella and Edward scene.

Catherine Hardwicke directed both the 2008 breakthrough ‘Twilight’ hit and now 'Red Riding Hood', so it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. It seems the director, who also made 'Thirteen' in 2003, has found a blueprint that works, and it sticking stubbornly to it.

There's nothing wrong with the film's bosses wanting to appeal to the same fan base (the film's poster omits Hardwicke's name in favour of ‘From the director of 'Twilight'), but is it a bit too (Twi-)hard?

Still, just because it looks similar it doesn't mean guaranteed success. Chris Columbus' 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief' had obvious similarities to the 'Harry Potter' franchise (of which he directed the first two), but flopped at the box office.
