"Paul" trailer for grown ups

Looks like the boffins at HQ have cooked up a redband trailer to appeal to grown ups by showcasing the naughty bits

Bad Teacher gets a Red Band trailer

Bad Teacher is a film that from title to premise is trying to recreate some of the magic that made Billy Bob Thornton's Bad Santa such a treat.

Based on the strength of the first trailer however, Cameron Diaz is no Billy Bob Thornton, and Bad Teacher is no Bad Santa.

Not to say it's all bad though, despite Diaz not ever really feeling comfortable in her role as a pot-smoking, potty mouthed educator, some of the jokes land perfectly thanks to the great supporting cast, notably TF favourite Jason Segal.

Swearing its way through much of the NSFW-dictionary, the Red Band trailer also gives away details of a mostly nonsensical plot involving Justin Timberlake and boob jobs.

You can see the fully NSFW Red Band trailer below (put your headphones on, cubicle dwellers);

File this one under 'wholly unconvinced' for now. We definitely cracked a few chuckles throughout, but remain doubtful that the 'swearing = comedy' premise is enough to carry the film for 90 mins.

Bad Teacher is released in the UK June 24 2011

McAvoy: 'First Class is like a love story'

James McAvoy has said that the dynamic between Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr in X-Men: First Class makes the film "kind of a love story".

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex, the actor compared their story to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

"This is the first time in their lives [that] they've met someone who is an equal of sorts, someone who understands them and can connect and push them too," McAvoy said.

"Charles [is] fascinated with Erik (Magneto) and his potential. For Erik, Charles is the first person he's trusted to really tell about his past and the first person to understand the horrible things he's been through."

McAvoy plays Xavier in the prequel, with Michael Fassbender cast in the part of Magneto.

X-Men: First Class opens on June 2 in the UK and June 3 in the US.

Murray: 'I'm the problem for Ghostbusters 3'

Bill Murray has confirmed that he is yet to read the script for Ghostbusters 3.

Appearing on The Howard Stern Show, Murray claimed that he is "the problem" holding up the long-awaited comedy sequel.

"Before I was an asset, [but] now I'm a problem. There's a script somewhere, but I haven't read it yet," Murray said.

He continued: "I only made one sequel and it was Ghostbusters 2 and it didn't end up the way it was presented."

The comic actor said that he plans to get around to reading the screenplay from Office duo Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg as a favour to director Ivan Reitman.

"Ivan wants to make it and I owe him. He's puzzled that I haven't gotten to this one," he said. "I'll get to it, I feel bad. I got a message and I think people - I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings - it's not the foremost thing in my mind, so I don't think about it."

Of the continued efforts to resurrect the Ghostbsuters series, Murray said: "The studio gets excited every ten years or so. What they'd really like to do is recreate the franchise.

"I remember when the new Ghostbusters was going to be Chris Rock, Chris Farley and Chris Crane... Kris Kringle... someone - they had it together."

Ghostbusters 3 director Reitman recently told DS that Murray hadn't made it past the cover page of the film's script.

Sutherland: '24 movie is going ahead'

Sutherland has insisted that a film version of 24 is still going ahead.

Speaking on Live with Regis and Kelly, the actor suggested that the movie could begin filming in early 2012.

"There is going to be a 24 movie," he said. "People come up to me and say they love the show. It's funny, because I don't feel like we finished. It's still such a presence in my life."

He also appeared to confirm earlier reports that Top Gun director Tony Scott is considering helming the project.

"We will hopefully start next January and Tony Scott is one of the directors who has expressed great interest in doing it," he said. "I think he would be fantastic. I am really excited to do that."

Sutherland recently signed on to play the lead role in Heroes creator Tim Kring's new Fox pilot Touch.

The final episode of 24 aired on May 24 last year.

'Black Swan' gets costume awards

Williams 'likes challenging roles'

Michelle Williams has revealed that she never shies away from difficult movie roles.

The actress, who plays Marilyn Monroe in upcoming film My Week with Marilyn, explained that she couldn't help but take on the challenge of playing such an iconic figure.

She told Look: "I'm a glutton for punishment! I won't let myself shrink away from a challenge. While my mind is saying, 'Retreat, retreat, retreat!' my heart is already there and that's what ultimately wins."

The 30-year-old starred alongside Ryan Gosling in Blue Valentine and Williams explained that their chemistry was so strong on screen because they had to live the lives of their characters Cindy and Dean.

She recalled: "We were driven to a house where our characters find themselves married with a young daughter and told, 'Make it a home'.

"We were allowed to make decisions about how to decorate it so we went to a studio to have our photos taken and hung them on the wall. We grocery shopped, cooked, cleaned our dishes, took out the trash... We made home movies. We made memories as a couple. We did everything but share the marital bed!"

'G.I. Joe 2' searching for director

Producers are currently searching for a director for the forthcoming sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

Stephen Sommers helmed the 2009 feature film, based on the toy line, comic books and animated series, but has allegedly decided against working on the next movie.

According to MTV, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner revealed that the search for a director for the sequel is ongoing.

"It's in the works! We have a really good script and we're right now talking to a number of directors," Goldner said.

When asked if Sommers was being considered for the sequel, Goldner replied: "I don't know if I can comment. I don't know if the studio has commented yet. But we're certainly talking to some people."

Filmmakers F. Gary Gray and Jon Chu have been rumoured for the job.

Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick wrote the script for the follow-up, which Goldner said could stand on its own.

"There is a really great idea in the second G.I. Joe," he said. "In many ways, it'll be great for the people who saw the first one, but you don't need to have studied every element of the first one to enjoy the second. We've made sure that that's the case."

Firth: 'Mamma Mia! is the best I've done'

Colin Firth has revealed that Mamma Mia! is one of the three movies he is most proud of starring in.

The Oscar-nominated King's Speech actor told CBS show 60 Minutes that he is not ashamed of appearing in the hit big screen version of Abba's musical.

"I think it is one of the best things I have ever done. People expect me to be apologetic about it but I'm not," he said of Mamma Mia!. "Right now I would say there's three things of which I am most proud, A Single Man, The King's Speech and Mamma Mia!."

The 50-year-old has scooped a Golden Globe, a BAFTA and has been tipped to pick up the 'Best Actor' accolade at this Sunday's Academy Awards for his portrayal of King George VI in The King's Speech.

Last year Firth received an acting nomination for A Single Man but was pipped to the award by Crazy Heart's Jeff Bridges

Om Puri teases third 'East' film

Om Puri has suggested a possible plot for a third film in the series started by East Is East.

Sequel West Is West premiered at last year's BFI London Film Festival and goes on general release this Friday.

Om Puri was asked about plans for a third film and whether it would be called South Is South or North Is North

"Maybe it can be called East Meets West," Puri told Metro. "Maybe it could look at George Khan when he's old.

"Maybe he's sick and the family in Pakistan comes and joins the family in Britain as the patriarch is going to his death or the last days of his life. A kind of happy reunion of the children."

Rutger Hauer joins Dario Argento’s Dracula 3D

Dario Argento’s upcoming Dracula 3D just got an injection of cool thanks to legendary actor Rutger Hauer.

The star of upcoming Hobo With A Shotgun, as well as cinematic classics Blade Runner and Batman Begins, has apparently been cast as vampire hunter Van Helsing in the horror production.

With shooting expected to kick off in May, Hauer is the first name to join the cast. We’re sure now that gore maestro Argento’s gotten a culty name attached, he’ll find it easier to grab even more cool cast members.

Despite Argento’s more recent work failing to hit the heights of his earlier Suspiria and Deep Red, it’ll definitely be interesting to see if he can make a comeback with Dracula. If anything it should be a bloody affair.

Hauer can currently be seen in The Rite, which opens in the UK this Friday.

Live-action Star Blazers movie in the works

Star Blazers could be heading back to the big screen!

A live-action version of the classic anime TV series - which originally aired between 1979 and 1984, and once outgrossed Star Wars at the cinema when it was edited into a movie - is in the works.

Usual Suspects and Top Gun 2 scribe Christopher McQuarrie has been hired to write a script for the film, while Skydance Productions are currently negotiating for the rights to the series.

The basic plot follows WWII battleship-turned spacecraft Yamata and its attempts to rescue the Earth by finding radiation-emitting technology in space.

Deadline report that the live-action film will stick to the anime’s original concept, and would be a “space opera” that involves alien invasions and a quest to save our planet – and the human race.

This new Hollywood version will have to compete with a new Japanese film based on Space Battleship Yamato, the Japanese show that inspired Star Blazers in the first place.

Liam Neeson enjoyed gorgeous co-stars

Liam Neeson has revealed that working with good-looking women made filming for Unknown more enjoyable.

In an interview for AskMen, the actor was asked what it was like to star alongside Diane Kruger and January Jones

"It's very easy on the eyes to see them first thing when you get to the set at 6am, if I may say so," replied Neeson.

Neeson recently spoke of his grief following the death of actress wife Natasha Richardson in 2009.

He is now focusing on promoting his new film Unknown, which comes out in the UK on March 4.

Charlie Sheen wants another 'Major League'

Charlie Sheen has revealed that he would like to make a new Major League movie.

Sheen said that he would shoot a new film in the Major League franchise if a script was approved, reports TMZ.

Sheen, who starred in the first two Major League movies, said that should a new Major League film be shot, he would consider it to be Major League 3, despite the fact that a Major League 3 already exists.

Sheen labelled the third movie "an abortion", stating that it does not deserve to be considered a part of the franchise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sheen hosted a viewing of the original Major League at a baseball All-Star party at his home this past weekend in anticipation of the new baseball season

Lindsay Lohan to star in a new film?

Lindsay Lohan may be joining the cast of the film Escaping the Game, it has been reported.

Lohan, who was recently accused of stealing a $2,500 (£1,547) necklace, could be facing jail time for the crime if found guilty. However, movie producer Nathan Folks still wants the actress to star in his next project, according to Hollywire.

"[Lohan] wants to do it," Folks said. "She's doing great and we're going to prove to the world that she's back."

Folks went on to say that he is confident that Lohan's alcohol and drug dependencies will not cause any problems for the film.

"We can get her insured if she is with someone who is keeping an eye on her 24/7," Folks said. "Lindsay and I have discussed it and she's already agreed to the condition."

Should Lohan decide to join the movie, she would play an investigator looking into the disappearances of various celebrities.

Top movie satans

Beelzebub, Lucifer, Mephisto, the Lord of the Flies, Simon Cowell – call him (or her) what you will, the devil has been muscling in on the movies from time immemorial. And with Nicolas Cage set to encur the wrath of the devil in 'Drive Angry', playing a vengeful motorist having broken out of hell (as you do) being pursued by one of his very best agents (played by the ultra-evil Mahone out of 'Prison Break'), we look back on the finest movie depictions of the cross red chap with the hooves...

Jack Nicholson as Daryl Van Horne in The Witches of Eastwick (1987)

Nicholson was pretty much born to play the languid, sleazy Daryl Van Horne, an incarnation of the devil as summoned by bored, suburban divorcees Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer to the buttoned-down New England town of Eastwick. Of course, as is customary when you summon the devil, things ultimately don't go that well.

Tim Curry as Darkness in Legend (1985)

If there's an image in your mind suggesting precisely what the devil looks like, Tim Curry's horned crimson beefcake is surely the closest to the image that kept you shivering under your covers at night as a child. Thanks to Curry's demonic, Jimmy Hill-esque prosthetic chin, he caused sleepless nights across the planet with his malevolent prince of darkness.

Robert De Niro as Louis Cyphre in Angel Heart (1987)

Though the assumed name of 'Angel Heart's mysterious stranger is as subtle as a sack of sledgehammers in Alan Parker's period detective fantasy (calling himself Louis Cyphre), Robert De Niro plays him to the hilt, a heart-stopping presence every time he's on screen. And he comes complete with creepy long nails, which are always a bit wrong.

David Warner as Evil Genius in Time Bandits (1981)

David Warner's brilliant interpretation of the devil himself as the peevish, technophile Evil Genius takes God down a peg or two, citing his creations of '43 species of parrot' and 'nipples for men' as two reasons why he's a bit rubbish. Not to mention his apparent lack of interest in microchips, the car telephone and lasers. Fair enough, when you think about it.

Dave Grohl as Beelzeboss in Tenacious D: Pick of Destiny (2006)

Probably the sweariest, sexually depraved Satan in cinema history, caps should be doffed to Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl for donning a pair of furry legs and painting himself red to play Beelzeboss, challenging Jack Black and KG to a rock-off in 'Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny'. His drumming and riffing is impressive.

Rosalinda Celentano as Satan in The Passion of the Christ (2004)

Mel Gibson's gore-fest was given a desperately creepy edge by Italian actress Rosalinda Celentano's portrayal of a peculiarly androgynous Satan. Circling the flogging of Christ with a baby more at home in a circus sideshow, an image intended to mock the Virgin Mary cradling the baby Jesus, it made the exploitative horror on screen all the more unsettling.

Harvey Stephens as Damien Thorn in The Omen (1976)

OK, so technically he's the son of the devil, as adopted by Gregory Peck's furrow-browed US ambassador to England. But as the world's creepiest child, Damien Thorn is next in line, so we're making an exception. Something about those piercing eyes, love of slobbering Rottweillers and unsettling smile make Damien perhaps the most frightening vision of toddling evil ever.

Al Pacino as John Milton in The Devil's Advocate (1997)

In a none-too-subtle nod to 'Paradise Lost', Al Pacino plays John Milton, the shadowy head of an ethically dubious law firm, a pretty fair assumption of what kind of vocation the prince of darkness would favour. Defence attorney Keanu Reeves is recruited but is soon literally doing the devil's work. The whole thing is daft as a brush, but Pacino's satanic litigator is just too much fun to ignore.

Peter Stormare as Satan in Constantine (2005)

While Keanu Reeves (again!) is as wooden as one might expect playing supernatural detective John Constantine, it is the perennially terrifying Peter Stormare who shines as Satan in this comic book adaptation. Whether that's because we can't dispel the image of him stoically feeding Steve Buscemi into a wood-chipper in 'Fargo', we cannot know. But it probably doesn't help.

'Paul' claims UK box office No. 1

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost's Paul has topped the box office on its first week in UK cinemas.

The sci-fi road comedy, boosted by an early release on Valentine's Day, racked up £5.5 million in ticket sales to send last week's chart topper Gnomeo & Juliet into second place.

Colin Firth's Oscar-tipped royal drama The King's Speech is at number three having taken in more than £37 million in the UK since its release in January.

True Grit charts at numbers three and four respectively, while Martin Lawrence comedy sequel Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son is a new entry at number five.

Despite a high profile promotional push, including a premiere event at London's Cineworld O2, Justin Bieber's concert movie Never Say Never fails to break the £1 million mark and debuts at a disappointing number nine.

The UK box office top ten in full:

1. (-) Paul - £5,517,121
2. (1) Gnomeo & Juliet - £2,223,978
3. (2) The King's Speech - £1,685,180
4. (4) True Grit - £1,466,979
5. (-) Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son - £1,433,778
6. (5) Yogi Bear - £1,370,585
7. (3) Tangled - £1,295,709
8. (6) Just Go With It - £984,355
9. (-) Justin Bieber: Never Say Never - £820,592
10. (7) Black Swan - £696,332

Another new image from The Hangover 2

Yet another tantalising new image from The Hangover 2 has found its way online, while a trailer should be turning up some time this week.

This new snap shows off three of our leads once more, though it must be somewhere near the beginning of the trip because nobody’s looking quite as beaten up yet as they surely will be by the sequel’s close.

The follow-up to 2009’s unexpected bromantic hit, Hangover 2 sees Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms), Alan (Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (Justin Bartha) travel to exotic Thailand for Stu’s wedding.

However, a slight feeling of déjà vu sets in when a subdued pre-wedding lunch turns into anything but.

The Hangover II opens on 27 May.

MGM move RoboCop remake into production

MGM are apparently moving ahead with production of the RoboCop remake, despite axing their entire digital department.

The studio is still in the process of restructuring following its emergence from bankruptcy in December 2010 (you probably remember the legal wrangles that kept Bond 23 and The Hobbit from entering production as speedily as they otherwise might.)

There have been unconfirmed whispers that the company may be remaking several old properties, including Mr Mom and Poltergeist, but RoboCop seems like the surest bet at the moment.

Sadly it's unlikely that Darren Aronofsky will be involved in the remake, as he's currently working on X-Men prequel-sequel The Wolverine with Hugh Jackman.

Here's hoping that MGM set an equally interesting, visionary director to work on the project, rather than someone who'll simply churn out a generic action flick.

Currently the studio have The Hobbit, Bond 23, and fairytale revamp Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters in production. With MGM finding its feet again, expect to hear official announcements of forthcoming projects very shortly.
