Mélanie Laurent: 'Bring on Basterds prequel'

Mélanie Laurent has revealed that she is looking forward to the Inglourious Basterds prequel.

Quentin Tarantino said two years ago that a prequel to the 2009 movie was half-written, stating at the time that he would make the prequel if Inglourious Basterds proved to be a success.

Laurent, who played the ill-fated Shossana Dreyfus in the film, spoke to E! News about the possibility of doing a prequel.

"If Quentin wants to do that then I hope Shosanna will be in it," Laurent said. "I really hope so."

Elsewhere, Brad Pitt (Lt. Aldo Raine) previously expressed an interest in making a second Inglourious Basterds film as well.

Inglourious Basterds opened to $37.6 million in the US, ultimately earning $320.3 million (£195m) worldwide. It is Tarantino's highest grossing film to date.

Tarantino is currently at work on Django Unchained, which will feature Inglourious Basterds star Christoph Waltz.

Django Unchained is scheduled to begin production later this year.
