Harry Potter 7 PT 2 ‘Like A War Film’

There’s been a fair few comments surrounding Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and its perceived lack of direction and pace in terms of plot. Other criticism is there wasn’t enough set-pieces and most of the movie was spent inside a tent in various locales across the UK.

But was David Yates cleverly building up the calm before the storm? Daniel Radcliffe definitely thinks so. As fans we can expect distinct styles for Parts 1 and 2: drama for the first, and for the sweet pay-off: high action. The man who pretends he’s Potter said this to press agency Reuters:

“The last movie is going to be really, really fast-paced and a load of action in it, and it is like a war film. If we had done this book in one film, the stuff that would have got cut is most of this film.”

Pinto not keen on 'mindless' films

Freida Pinto knows exactly what kind of film she doesn't want to make - the "mindless" variety.
The 26-year-old actress, who went from an unknown to in-demand film star after appearing as Latika in Slumdog Millionaire, plays a teacher in a Palestinian refugee camp in her latest film Miral.
She said of her reasons for doing the movie: "I just feel there are so many stories that need to be told and very few films that are doing that.
"So when I get this opportunity to do it (Miral), I think I should embrace it rather than take on something that's mindless and that I won't be satisfied doing.
"I'm not saying commercial films are mindless, but I mean mindless in the sense that they're not going to do anything for me."
Since starring in Slumdog, Freida has shied away from more mainstream films and plumped for the likes of a musicologist in You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger (Woody Allen's latest comedy), Rise Of The Apes and Black Gold, in which she plays Antonio Banderas's Arab princess daughter.
She still makes time to see her boyfriend and Slumdog co-star Dev Patel.
"You have to find a way to see each other and that's where initiative comes into it," she said.
"Dev's so understanding and that's what really matters. I need to do the same, you know, that's how we make it work. And we're so young, we've got so much more to do. We can't stop our work lives because we don't want to be apart."
Miral is directed by Oscar nominee Julian Schnabel and is based on Rula Jebreal's semi-autobiographical novel about the lives of three generations of women in war-torn Jerusalem. It is released in cinemas on Friday, December 3.

Tangled trailer features all 50 Disney animated films

Walt Disney Animation Studios have released a short two-minute video to celebrate the imminent release of their latest film, Tangled by counting down the 49 animated features produced over the past seven decades.

The video ends with a look a Tangled - the 50th Disney animated feature - a new twist on the story of Rapunzel, the girl who let down her hair.
In Tangled, Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) is kidnapped as a baby by Mother Gothel (Donna Murphy) and locked in the infamous tower.

To celebrate Disney's landmark achievement, there will be celebrations next year including screenings of all 50 films at the BFI on London’s Southbank.

They'll also screen Tangled on the day of the premiere, followed by a Q&A with the directors Nathan Greno and Byron Howard.

The BFI will then show a different animated Disney film every weekend for the rest of 2011, starting with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), which was the first full colour animated film, and ending with The Princess and the Frog (2009).

Malin Akerman playing Linda Lovelace in Inferno

Just yesterday, news broke that Lindsay Lohan had been given the boot from porn biopic Inferno.

Clearly the part of Linda Lovelace is an attractive one, though, as already a replacement has been found, with Swedish
Watchmen actress Malin Akerman snapping up the role.
Who knew Hollywood stars were so keen on porno?

Lovelace, of course, is the porn star made famous after she appeared in hardcore film
Deep Throat. Later on in life, the actress denounced the porn industry and attested that she’d been forced into the business by her husband.
Inferno is just another project to add to Akerman’s jam-packed slate, which includes Happythankyoumoreplease, Catch .44Criminal Empire For Dummies and Wanderlist.

Considering she’s used to being the object of slathering fanboys thanks to that skintight suit in
Watchmen, we’re sure she’s more than ready for a role like Lovelace.

Lindsay Lohan no longer playing Linda Lovelace

It looked like it was going to be a chance for Lindsay Lohan to finally regain some respectability, and prove her worth as an actress again.

But now director Matthew Wilder has told E! News that Lohan will no longer star in
Inferno, the biopic of Deep Throat star Linda Lovelace.

Wilder said: "We are withdrawing our offer from Lindsay Lohan… We are currently in negotiations [with another actress] and working on the legalities of bringing her on board."

"We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support. Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her - and some other issues - have made it impossible for us to go forward."

Tomorrow E! News will be announcing the identity of the 'amazing actress' who is lined up to replace Lohan.

It will be a blow for Lohan, who has recently made something of a comeback appearance in Robert Rodriguez's
Machete, as she seemed like perfect casting for the troubled starlet.
Earlier this year Wilder announced that the production would wait for Lohan while she was serving jail time.

Anyone who has seen documentary
Inside Deep Throat will know there's an interesting story to be told here, and it could have been a great dramatic role for Lohan.

New international poster for The Green Hornet

A new international poster for Michel Gondry’s The Green Hornet has been released.

The film follows Britt Reid, the son of a LA media magnate who mysteriously dies, and leaves Britt in charge of his media empire. Britt and one of his employees seize their opportunity to do something meaningful. By building a kick-ass car and more gadgets than Bond they fight crime with crime.

Starring Seth Rogen (Pineapple Express) and Jay Chou (True Legend) as the Green Hornet and his sidekick Kato, alongside Cameron Diaz (Knight and Day), Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds), Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica), and Tom Wilkinson (Burke and Hare).

Johnny Depp to play Tonto in The Lone Ranger

Gore Verbinski may not have returned to direct Johnny Depp in the fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean movie, but evidently there’s no bad blood between the two.

Not only have they just finished work together on CGI animated movie Rango, they’ve also signed on to create a movie update of The Lone Ranger.

Based on the infamous ‘50s radio and TV show, the movie has been rattling around production limbo since 2007, when it was first announced that producer Jerry Bruckheimer was keen to craft a Pirates-style take on The Lone Ranger with Verbinski.

Now Deadline report that a deal’s been struck with the director, while Depp has signed to play Tonto, the Native American companion to the titular Ranger. Which clearly indicates that Depp will be jumping into the dressing up box again.

No word who will be playing the Ranger, most famously played by Clayton Moore for 208 episodes of the TV series. Could Verbinski be keen on a Depp-Orlando Bloom re-team?

Depp and Verbinski’s next film, Rango, will open on 4 March, 2011.

Apollo 18 poster unveiled

Two footprints – one human, one something else – meet in moon dust on the enigmatic poster for new found footage film Apollo 18.

Though it’s due out Stateside as early as March 2011, next to nothing plotwise is known about the movie.

What we do know is that it’s based around a secret mission to the moon that ends with humans coming in contact with aliens. Considering it’s all reportedly relayed to us as found footage, we can guess the encounter doesn’t go well.

Wanted and Night Watch director Timur Bekmambetov is producing, while Spanish director Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego is behind the camera.
