Pegg to star in new killer comedy

Simon Pegg is to star in new Brit flick A Fantastic Fear Of Everything, about a crime writer who becomes obsessed with murder.

The Star Trek star will play Jack, a children's author turned crime novelist whose detailed research into the lives of Victorian serial killers has turned him into a paranoid wreck, with an irrational fear of being murdered.

The comedy is written and directed by former Kula Shaker frontman Crispian Mills, marking his feature film debut.

Crispian, 38, tweeted this week: "My amazing missus gave birth to our second baby boy two weeks ago!

"That same week I also finally started filming the movie- now titled A Fantastic Fear Of Everything. Mad times but very exciting."

The former rocker - son of Hayley Mills and director Roy Boulting - will co-direct with Chris Hopewell, whose previous work includes the music videos for Radiohead's There There and The Killers' Smile Like You Mean It.

A Fantastic Fear Of Everything is currently shooting on location in London and Shepperton Studios and also stars Two Pints Of Lager's Sheridan Smith, The Darjeeling Limited's Amara Karan and Hellraiser's Clare Higgins.

Johansson set to film in Glasgow

Scarlett Johansson is to swap the sunny climes of California for a Scottish winter.

The Tinseltown beauty is set to shoot sci-fi adventure Under The Skin with British director Jonathan Glazer around Glasgow and other Scottish locations in October, reported CineEuropa.

In the film, based on Michel Faber's eponymous novel and adapted by Walter Campbell, Scarlett plays an alien on earth - disguised as a sultry bombshell - who uses her sexuality to kill humans.

Glen Basner, CEO of FilmNation, who is handling international sales of the film, said: "We're so very excited to be working on this arrestingly original movie. How could we pass up the chance to work with a visionary director like Jonathan, especially when combined with the intriguing notion of Scarlett Johansson as a ruthless alien seductress?"

Jonathan, who previously directed Sexy Beast with Ray Winstone and Ben Kingsley, is currently casting other roles in Under The Skin in Scotland.

Olivia Wilde on Going Nude

The actress says she didn't even know she had revealed her backside in one of the movies until people started asking her about it.

Olivia Wilde bares a little more than just her soul in not one but two upcoming movies The actress reveals her backside in the Cowboys & Aliens, opposite Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, and in The Change-Up, which stars Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman.

“There’s a little nudity in this one," Wilde told Access Hollywoodof Cowboys, adding, “I feel like if I feel really safe and if I feel like the story calls for it, then I’m not so shy.”

But in Change-Up, Wilde said she didn't even realize her rear end was being shown until people who had seen the movie started asking her about it.

“With The Change-Up I didn’t really realize that’s what was happening, as if I didn’t really know where the camera was," she said. "So then people saw the movie and they’re like, ‘You know your butt’s in the movie?’ and I was like, ‘What?’ I had no idea! But you know, I think when you agree to do a movie, like that you have to go 100 percent for it.”

Cowboys & Aliens, a genre-defying mashup of a Western and space-invasion movie directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man), opens Friday. The movie had its premiere at Comic-Con on Saturday night.

Change-Up, a body-switching comedy from David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers), opens Aug. 5.

Wilde also has appeared in the TV series House and last year's Tron: Legacy.

Hilary Swank's 'exciting character'

Hilary Swank is set to swap harrowing dramas for action with the lead role in Shrapnel.

The Oscar-winning actress is to star as a former military officer, who leads a revolt on Venus in the year 2250, in the big-screen adaptation of the graphic novel, which she will also produce.

Hilary - who scooped Academy Awards for her performances in Boys Don't Cry and Million Dollar Baby - has been looking for some time for a "strong action" film, according to Variety.

"Shrapnel and specifically the character of Sam offer me the opportunity to dive into an exciting character with many layers and depth that are rarely found in this genre," the actress said.

A director is still being sought for the movie, which Toby Wagstaff is penning.

Radical president Barry Levine boasted about Hilary's involvement, saying: "Hilary came to Radical excited to find a project with a strong female protagonist that could show off her abilities to do action films. With Hilary being an actor's actor, Shrapnel will give a whole new definition to that type of role."

It's a change of role for the star, who tends to play real-life characters such as aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart (Amelia), single mum-turned-lawyer Betty Anne Waters (Conviction) and transsexual Brandon Teena (Boys Don't Cry).

Last seen in horror flick The Resident, her next big-screen outing is in Garry Marshall's ensemble comedy New Year's Eve, alongside Robert De Niro and Jon Bon Jovi.

Weaver wants more Alien adventures

Sigourney Weaver reckons there is one more story to be eked out of the Alien saga.

But the Hollywood star, who is still recognised for her action woman role as Ripley in Ridley Scott's films, claims she is too old to reprise the role.

"I would have liked to do one last story where we go back to the planet, where Ripley's history is resolved. But I do feel like her story is unfinished," the 61-year-old told Moviefone.

"I doubt it just because the way the industry is... Once you're 60, you're not going to be starring in an action movie. I think it's too bad that that's the case. I could definitely kick that alien's a** again. [Ripley]'s a smart hero, it's the way she thinks."

Far from hanging up her action hat, Sigourney next stars in action thriller Abduction alongside Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner and Jason Isaacs - and revealed she isn't too worried about never revisiting the Alien territory again.

"I love the way the story has evolved, that every few years there's another voyage into that universe with another wonderful young director. And certainly I'm blessed with lots of different wonderful jobs, so I'm not sitting at home ruminating about all of that," she continued.

"If I was really caught up in it, I would find a logical story and try to get them behind it, but she may just be left circling earth."

Bonham Carter on for Lone Ranger?

Helena Bonham Carter is reportedly in talks to join The Lone Ranger.

The Harry Potter star is said to be interested in playing a brothel madam who keeps both gentlemen and scoundrels in line in the Disney action adventure, which Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer are already saddling up for, said Heat Vision blog.

True Grit actor Barry Pepper and country singer-turned-actor Dwight Yoakam are also negotiating to get on board Gore Verbinski's upcoming blockbuster.

Barry is tipped to act as a military officer, while Dwight, who is currently shooting Billy Bob Thornton's Jayne Mansfield's Car, is expected to be cast as menacing gang leader Butch Cavendish.

Inspired by the 1940s TV series, the movie, to be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, sees Tonto - played by Johnny - take a much more prominent role in the story of a Texas Ranger (Armie) who dons the masked identity known as the Lone Ranger.

Tom Wilkinson is also already galloping into the film as a railroad tycoon, with British actress Ruth Wilson in discussions to play Rebecca Reid.

A mid-October start date in Texas and New Mexico is being planned.

Helena, who has reprised her role as Death Eater Bellatrix LeStrange in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - Part 2, is currently filming Dark Shadows with Johnny and her long-time partner Tim Burton.

Aniston revels in raunchiest role

Jennifer Aniston showed off a dominatrix-style look as she promoted her raunchiest movie to date.

The actress - best known for her years as girl-next-door Rachel in TV hit Friends - dazzled in a leather-look black mini-dress and studded, strappy stilettos.

The 42-year-old was in London ahead of the premiere of her new film Horrible Bosses in which she plays a woman with a voracious sexual appetite.

In the film she appears at one stage dressed in just lingerie to play a dentist who sexually harasses her assistant, portrayed by Charlie Day.

And she said she had no second thoughts about playing such a naughty role.

"That was the fun of it, how far it went," she said. "I really went for it the whole entire movie. It's very vulgar and very rude but that's what's fantastic about being able to do something like that because it's so outrageous, it's limitless. So you just get to have complete abandon and no worry if you're being inappropriate at all."
Speaking at a press conference at the Dorchester Hotel, she added: "I have never come across anyone like her so it was pretty much just going into my own dark imagination and seeing what I could come up with."

Jennifer - who co-stars with Kevin Spacey in the film - showed off a recent tattoo on her foot as she donned her heels. She had the name of her late pet dog Norman on the instep of her right foot.

The actress, who will appear at the film's premiere at the BFI Southbank this evening, said her fitness regime meant she had no worries about stripping for the role.

"I think if you keep in good health and good shape then those scenes don't terrify you so much," she said.

John Lasseter on Toy Story 4 rumours

After Tom Hanks' suggestion that they're already "working on it", Pixar head John Lasseter has been grilled by the normally reserved hosts of the BBC's Breakfast show about a fourth instalment of Toy Story.

"We haven't announced anything, so I can't really talk about it" was his official-ish response after agreeing that he found Hanks' gaffe "interesting".

The shuffling, raised eyebrows and awkward humming are certain to get rumour-mongers thinking that an official announcement could be imminent.

Is it too hard to imagine the perfect Pixar trio becoming a quartet without destroying a little of the magic?

Although, with some critics suggesting that the 'Hawaiian Vacation' short preceding Cars 2 is outdoing the main attraction at the theatres, it may be required.

Will Brave and Monsters University get Pixar back to the heights we know they can scale?

Even if they do, Toy Story could just be too valuable a property to be put away in the attic...

BFI Dishes Out First Transition Funding

The British Film Institute’s Transition Fund is dishing out just under £900,000 across 37 British events and projects in its inaugural cash drop.

Cash recipients in this round of funding include the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the British Independent Film Awards and the Sheffield International Documentary Film Festival.

Alyson Hannigan Fans will love American Reunion

Alyson Hannigan has promised that fans won't be disappointed with the upcoming sequel to the American Pie films.

Hannigan, who reprises her role as Michelle Flaherty in American Reunion, said that she and co-stars Jason Biggs, Tara Reid and John Cho felt at ease with one another immediately, even though it has been nearly ten years since they last worked together.

"It's been hilarious. It really did feel like a reunion," Hannigan told Parade. "The great thing about that cast is we all had such great chemistry."

She continued: "Even though you sort of lose touch, the moment you get back together it's as if no time has passed whatsoever. Everybody's having a blast. I really think it's going to be as funny as the first one."

Hannigan also disclosed that American Reunion will focus on her character Michelle and husband Jim (Biggs)'s attempt to reignite the romance in their marriage while also juggling parenting responsibilities.

"They're just navigating the waters of being parents and trying to not put their relationship on the back burner. They're going to the reunion to try to get some of that back, but of course hijinks ensue," she added. "There's going to be hilarious situations that will not disappoint the fans."

Fellow American Reunion star Chris Klein previously disclosed that Jennifer Coolidge will be reprising her role as Stiffler's sex-crazed mother for the movie.

Joe Johnston wants Boba Fett movie

Joe Johnston has revealed that he would like to make a Star Wars movie spinoff based on the character Boba Fett.

Bounty hunter Boba Fett became a cult favourite of Star Wars fans after his first appearance in The Empire Strikes Back, before his death in Return of the Jedi.

Johnston was a designer and visual effects art director of the first three Star Wars films and also designed Fett's famous outfit.

The Captain America: The First Avenger director told Screenrant that he has asked George Lucas about a possible spinoff, and that he would like to direct.

He said: "I'm trying to get George to make a feature based on Boba Fett. I would like to direct it. It would be a lot of fun."

Johnston, who directed Jurassic Park III, added that he has hopes of a fourth movie in the dinosaur franchise.

"We are in discussions. The most important thing I can tell you is that it starts a new trilogy that goes in a different direction. It starts with the history of the first trilogy but spins off in a completely different direction that's very exciting and different from anything we've seen. That's all I can tell you."

The director recently said that he would be interested in making a sequel to Captain America.

Potter works magic at box office

Harry Potter has worked its magic on the box office, with the last film in the series smashing records in its opening weekend.

Since opening on Friday, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, took £23 million in the UK and Ireland.

It eclipsed the previous £18 million record held by the last Potter film, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - Part 1, released last year.

The film, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, took 168 million dollars (£104 million) in the US and Canada from Friday to Sunday, beating the record previously held by 2008's Batman blockbuster The Dark Knight.

So far, it has taken an estimated 476 million dollars (£296 million) globally.

Josh Berger, president and managing director of Warner Bros Entertainment UK and Ireland, said: "After a decade of Harry Potter films, the final film is truly a cultural phenomenon.

"We are thrilled with this astounding response and we would like to thank all Harry Potter fans across the UK and Ireland.

"These incredible results are a testament to the incredible achievement of the filmmakers, cast, and, of course, JK. Rowling, and will ensure the film series a place in history for years to come."

Directed by David Yates, the film's cast also includes Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon and John Hurt.

Stars turn out for new Craig film

Mark Strong, John Hannah and Lacey Turner stepped out for a new film narrated by Daniel Craig.

Other celebrity guests at the London premiere of BBC Earth's new One Life nature documentary film included Nina Wadia, a heavily pregnant Kate Silverton and model Alice Dellal.

"An amazing film to see with children, this film has taught them more than I ever could about the struggle of life," said Green Lantern star Mark.

Spartacus actor John added: "The film is a true triumph, I could not take my eyes from the screen throughout.

"It really puts our struggles as humans into perspective but also shows that in terms of day-to-day life, animals aren't so different to us."

Former EastEnders actress Lacey had only compliments too. She said: "The humour throughout the film was amazing, something which you just don't find in many nature documentaries. Daniel Craig's narration was sublime."

One Life, which is out in cinemas on July 29, documents the journey all living things take from the moment they are born to the delivery of the next generation.

Daniel has said: "For the filmmakers who spend their entire lives recording beautiful images of planet earth's dwindling wildlife, I have only a sense of awe and a deep rooted respect.

"I am incredibly fortunate to have been given the chance to play a very small part in that

Rupert Grint's gruelling film role

Rupert Grint has revealed that he was kept on his toes during a film shoot in severe weather.

In his first role since Harry Potter, the British star headed to Norway and Sweden to film Second World War movie Comrade, which is directed by Norwegian filmmaker Petter Naess.

"It was filmed in April, in winter, it was freezing, and we were just on a mountain in this really remote part of Norway. It was quite extreme," he recalled.

Despite the tough conditions, Rupert - better known for playing Harry's best friend Ron Weasley in the wizarding saga - found it exhilarating.

"It was good fun as well, it was something completely different, but I really enjoyed it," he continued.
"I play a British, Scouse RAF gunner. It's a great story, because it's a true story. David Cross from The Reader plays one of the Nazi pilots who have to live together to survive in this harsh climate."

The 22-year-old was drawn to the war element in Comrade

"It's a part of history I'm really interested. It's not really a story so much about the violence of war, it's just a story of survival really and these two groups of enemies coming together and forming this friendship," he said.

And he plans to keep switching between bigger Hollywood films and smaller indie movies, such as Cherrybomb and Wild Target. "My future is a bit blurry at the moment. I definitely want to keep acting and finding different roles," he added.

Saoirse Ronan 'I'd love to work with Tarantino

Saoirse Ronan has spoken of her desire to appear in a Quentin Tarantino film.

The Hanna star predicted that the iconic director would be "fantastic fun" to work with and shared her hope of breaking into his established "ensemble" of actors.

"I haven't worked with him, but I'd love to," she revealed to Virgin Media. "I've talked to people who have, and they all say he's made and that it's fantastic fun.

"Because he tends to work with the same actors every now and again, they can read each other. There's always such an ensemble feeling in his films, too. In Kill Bill, for example, of course Uma Thurman is the star but it really feels like a group effort."

Ronan further confessed that her appreciation of Tarantino extended beyond the Pulp Fiction helmer's filmography to his "amazing" physical features.

"He's often in his own films, which I think is great," she gushed. "He's so different-looking with that amazing face."

Ronan has been tipped to star in an adaptation of Twilight author Stephenie Meyer's novel The Host.

Deathly Hallows: Part 2 breaks first-day records

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 has broken the all-time record for the biggest box-office gross in one day of opening.

The final instalment of the wizarding franchise collected $92m (£57m) in the US upon its release on Friday, beating previous record-holder The Twilight Saga: New Moon's tally of $72m (£44m) in 2009.

Deathly Hallows: Part 2 raked in an additional $75m (£46m) internationally, to bring its global total close to $250m (£154m). This amount included a first-day opening of almost $15m (£9m) in the UK, the biggest single-day takings ever seen in the country.

The latest Harry Potter also set a new record for midnight screenings, as the $43m (£26m) it collected easily surpassed the $30m (£18m) achieved by late-night shows of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse last year.

"What an incredible beginning for the movie that ends it all," Warner domestic distribution president Dan Fellman commented to Variety.

"Everyone at Warner Bros joins me in congratulating the many people behind the Harry Potter films. We know this is just the start of what promises to be an astounding weekend and a magical summer."

Deathly Hallows: Part 2 took more money in 24 hours than four of the previous seven Harry Potter pictures did over their entire opening weekends, The AP adds. The film's success has been attributed to the increased cost of tickets to 3D showings.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is also tipped to surpass The Dark Knight's opening weekend record of $158m (£97m) domestically.

Noam Murro to Direct 300' Spin-Off

Warner Bros. has zeroed in on Noam Murro to direct its 300 spin-off, 300: Battle of Artemisia (formerly known as Xerses).

The Israel-born director, who helmed the 2008 film Smart People, was vying for the gig with Jaum Collet-Serra, the director of this year’s Liam Neeson thriller Unknown. But Warners, which liked both directors, in Solomon-like wisdom divided up gigs for the filmmakers, yesterday handing Collet-Serra the adaptation of Akira. An official offer to Murro is expected to be made early next week.

Artemisia is based on Frank Miller’s upcoming graphic novel that takes Xerxes, the Persian leader who is an antagonist in 300, and turns him into more of a pivotal figure. He's a man in search of godhood after the death of his father, battling an Athenian warlord named Themistocles. The story takes place over the course of several years, but the focal point is the battle of Artemisium, which occured in 480 BC.

Zack Snyder, who directed 300, wrote the script with his 300 partner Kurt Johnstad.

The aim is to shoot Artemisia in the same stylized vein as Snyder did with 300.

Artemisia would be a change of pace for CAA and Management 360-repped Murro, whose Smart People was an indie drama that starred Dennis Quaid as a widower dealing with his adopted brother (Thomas Hayden Church), his overachieving daughter (Ellen Page) and possible new love in the form of Sarah Jessica Parker.

The movie caught Hollywood's eye and got Murro lined up to direct the in-development Die Hard 5 movie.

Anna Paquin Talks True Blood

While much is said of her role on the HBO hit, her very public coming out, and her Oscar win for The Piano at age 11, she says there are other moments in her life that she would focus on if she wrote a memoir -- like her time on-stage while attending Cambridge.

“No one saw any of that stuff, so it’s almost as if it never happened,” she says. “On stage you don't have anything to hide behind. I have never felt so naked."

Here are five other things Paquin said in a recent interview that stood out:

On the response to her coming out as bisexual:
Frankly, no one had ever asked me before. My sexuality is something I’m completely comfortable with and open about. There’s a lot of prejudice toward us, but the more people talk about it, the less of a big deal it will be. And that will be better for everyone. Who people choose to sleep with—or spend their lives with—shouldn’t matter, not that anyone particularly cares who I’m attracted to.

On her New Zealand modesty:
We don’t know how to take compliments, unless of course they’re about The Lord of the Rings—those we’ll happily accept.

On sex scenes with Moyer on True Blood:
Maybe it should be weird, simulating sex with your husband in front of people. But it's really not. When its a love scene with someone you actually love it's no 'Can I touch him here, can I touch him there' You know what your boundaries are, or aren't I suppose.

On her husband’s fans:
There is probably something wrong with me, but I find it amusing to watch these men and women fawn all over him. It's not like anyone is really trying to do anything inappropriate. They just want him to hug them... or bite them

On Sookie’s luck:
Sookie is always in distress, it wouldn't be True Blood if someone wasn't trying to kill her

Bad Santa trilogy is in the works

A Bad Santa sequel is said to be in the works.

Producers on the original movie, in addition to its two studios Dimension Films and Miramax, have contracted various writers to begin working on a follow-up to the 2003 comedy, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The studios also allegedly hope that by hiring a number of different writers, they will be able to pick their favourite script or potentially develop two new films to complete a Bad Santa trilogy.

Bad Santa stars Billy Bob Thornton as a conman that poses as Santa Claus to rob a department store.

In March, it was reported that Thornton was in talks to reprise his role as Willie in a sequel to Bad Santa. The actor previously said that he would be interested in returning for the follow-up.

Sheridan Smith heading to Tower Block film

Sheridan Smith is to start work on Tower Block within weeks.

Shooting on the gritty British drama, which is being directed by first time feature film-makers Ronnie Thompson and James Nunn, is set to kick off around east London from July 18.

Starring alongside the Legally Blonde star are Skins actor Jack O'Connell, History Boys' Russell Tovey, and Ralph Brown from Mean Machine, reported Screen Daily.

James Moran, whose previous screen credits include Doctor Who, Torchwood and horror-comedy Severance, wrote the script about the repercussions facing residents of tower block 31 after they witness the murder of a young teenager.

"It's a dark, gritty action thriller about a sniper attacking the residents of a tower block (hence the name)," wrote the screenwriter on his blog.

He added: "I'm so excited that it's getting made, with such a fantastic cast and an amazing directing duo, and I'm dying to see what madness and mayhem they achieve on screen. I can't wait to sit at the back of the cinema and watch the audiences when it's out, too - this one's going to be a nail biter, it's relentless."

Kristen Wiig to Star in, Executive Produce 'Imogene'

"Cinema Verite's" Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini will direct the film beginning in August.
Maven Pictures and Anonymous Content announced Tuesday that Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig will star in Imogene as the title character.
Production on the film is set to begin Aug. 8 in New York City.

Wiig, also a regular on NBC's late-night sketch show Saturday Night Live, will executive produce with Shari Springer Berman, screenwriter Michelle Morgan and Steve Golin. Alix Madigan will produce with Rattray and Styler. Berman and Robert Pulcini (Cinema Verite) will direct the film.

“We're incredibly grateful to be working with Kristen, Shari, Bob and the extraordinary team on Imogene, Maven's first feature project," said Rattray and Styler. "Imogene has every element we were looking for: strong writing, remarkable directing talent, a movie star we believe in, a New York setting, and commercial appeal. This exemplifies all the key elements of our vision for Maven's future slate."

Madigan and Golin developed the project and brought Berman and Pulcini on board to direct.

Rattray left her post as president of Mandalay Vision earlier this year to form Maven with Styler.

Busy Depp has film trio in pipeline

Johnny Depp obviously likes keeping himself busy, as news emerges of three upcoming films for the actor.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star is said to be in talks to potentially star and produce the big-screen adaptation of 1972 TV movie and 1974 series The Night Stalker and a drama about the Midnight Ride, made by Paul Revere.

He would be teaming up with Infinitum Nihil partner Christi Dembrowski, and Disney studios as production partners.

Johnny is said to be considering playing tabloid reporter Carl Kolchak in The Night Stalker, who searches for his wife's murderer amid supernatural happenings involving vampires, zombies, werewolves and aliens.

But he is also thinking about playing Boston silversmith - and renowned American Revolutionary War figure - Paul Revere, who warns Colonial militia of the impending British invasion in the historical drama about the Midnight Ride.

Meanwhile, Julian Schnabel revealed he had plans for the Hollywood superstar with In The Hand Of Dante, based on Nick Tosches' book.

"It belongs to Johnny, but I'm not going to make it for a couple of years. We're gonna work on writing it, developing it. We didn't sign anything. It's just something Johnny asked me to read and I think it's a great book. It's pretty beautiful. It's about everything," the Miral director told The Playlist.

Johnny will next be saddling up with Armie Hammer in Gore Verbinski's The Lone Ranger, and is currently shooting Dark Shadows with frequent collaborator Tim Burton.

Evil Dead remake in the works

Bruce Campbell has confirmed that a remake of his horror classic The Evil Dead is being made.

The actor, who starred as Ash Williams in Sam Raimi's cult trilogy, joined Twitter over the weekend and claimed that another instalment in the Evil Dead series is coming soon.

Campbell told a follower: "Believe in the remake, dog! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell."

Additionally, website Dread Central has reported that Raimi's long-time editor Bob Murawski is working on the new Evil Dead movie in Detroit. A source for the horror outlet described the new film as "a small indie thing like the first two".

Raimi's producing partner Rob Tapert revealed at the start of the year that scripts were being looked at for a reboot of the franchise.

The Evil Dead, released in 1981, follows five college students vacationing in a remote woodland cabin who find a tape recording that unleashes spirits. The film was labeled a "video nasty" by UK ratings board the BBFC and wasn't released uncut until 2001.

Sequels Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness followed in 1987 and 1992, while the series has also been expanded to video games, comic books and an off-Broadway Toronto musical

10 Movies That Should Never Use Aromascope

When I first heard that the fourth 'Spy Kids' film would have a "4D" title attached at the end, we naturally assumed it was a not-so-clever joke at the number of sequels in the franchise, plus the fact that this one would be in 3D. But then we discovered what that "4" really stood for: Aromascope (aka Smell-O-Vision).

When 'Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D' is released on Aug. 19, viewers will get a chance to actually smell the movie. Cards loaded with eight different scents will be handed out to those attending both 2D and 3D screenings.

While I sure that Rodriguez will make good use of this "fourth dimension," it got us thinking: What movies would we not want to smell?

'Jackass' Franchise
Just thinking about the smells in these films is enough to make you sick. Among some of the odorific pranks: going to the bathroom in the middle of a hardware store, being thrown around in a Porta-Potty that's attached to a bungee chord, puking after snorting a line of Wasabi at a sushi restaurant, that horse scene ,etc.

'Days of Thunder'
Sure, the 1990 blockbuster had plenty of cool special effects (for the time, anyway), but do you really want to sit in a movie theater and smell burning rubber, oil and gas coming off a pack of race cars? Neither do I.

'Dumb and Dumber'
Taking a whiff of what went down in the bathroom after Lloyd (Jim Carrey) fed Harry (Jeff Daniels) a few spoonfuls of ex-lax would be enough to scar our sense of smell for several lifetimes. Plus, the scene in the beginning where the dogs are covered in mustard and ketchup couldn't have been pleasant either.

'The Exorcist'
When 'The Exorcist' was released in 1973, movie theaters provided special barf bags for viewers. And if this film ever ended up using Aromascope technology, they would definitely need them. The scene where a possessed Regan (Linda Blair) pukes green gook all over Father Karras (Jason Miller) is still considered one of the grossest movie scenes of all time.

'Fight Club'
This movie has plenty of glorified fight scenes in basements filled with sweaty bodies and blood. Also, the chemicals Project Mayhem used to build explosives were probably noxious. Not exactly our idea of a sweet-smelling cinematic experience.

'The Nutty Professor'
Eddie Murphy reintroduced us to the power of gas when the Klumps decided to have a fart contest at the dinner table. It was hilarious to watch, not so much to smell.

'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom'
Another epic dinner scene. If you like the scent of eyeball soup, cooked bugs and chilled monkey brains, then this would be number one on your list for potential Aromascope movies.

'Alien'
We didn't hear anyone complain about the smell when a creature bursts through Kane's chest, kills him, then escapes onto the ship, but I have to imagine that the odor couldn't have been very pleasant.

'Night of the Living Dead'
Dead people do not smell good; dead people reimagined as zombies probably smell worse. Mix in the fact that they are feeding on others, and you have a recipe for one foul-smelling flick.

'Saw 3'
Yes, all of these movies are pretty gruesome, but this one has liquefied pig corpses. Enough said.

Minka Kelly: 5 Things to Know

The actress stood by her longtime love, Derek Jeter, as he made history on Saturday. She'll return to TV this Fall on ABC's "Charlie's Angels"

While Derek Jeter basks in his recent 3,000th career hit, girlfriend Minka Kelly is keeping busy all on her own. The 31-year actress was most recently seen in Just Go With It and The Roommate, but is currently preparing for her starring role on ABC's Charlie's Angels reboot.
1. She was born in Los Angeles to former Aerosmith guitarist Rick Dufray, but took on the last name of her single mother, Maureen Kelly. Kelly's mother worked as an exotic dancer and after several moves, they settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she attended middle school. Kelly returned to L.A. after graduating high school.

2. Before landing the role of Lyla on NBC's Friday Night Lights, Kelly spent a year studying to become a surgeon's assistant, despite the urging of friends to pursue modeling.

"I've held several feet of colon in my hand. I could definitely sew up your leg. And anyway, modeling wasn't for me," she told Men's Health in 2008. "I'm too short. I've got a big butt. It wasn't going to happen."

3. Though she lost out to Mila Kunis for the 2011 "Holy Grail of Hotness" honor from Spike, Kelly was named Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive in 2010.

4. The actress was dubbed fittest woman in Hollywood by Gold's Gym in 2011 thanks in part to a healthy diet, as well as her new martial arts routine in preparation for Angels.  On the same token, she beat Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and Beyonce for the Best Booty award.

5. Kelly has been in a stable relationship with Jeter since 2008, but was previously linked to Chris Evans, Donald Faison and John Mayer. It's been widely reported that the couple may be engaged, but neither Kelly nor Jeter has confirmed.

John Barrowman wants Torchwood film

John Barrowman has revealed that he would "love" to make a Torchwood film.

The actor plays Captain Jack Harkness in the Doctor Who spin-off which returns for a fourth series on BBC One.

He said: "I'm not going to talk about the future of Torchwood beyond where we are, but if I said I wouldn't love to have Captain Jack on the big screen, I'd be lying."

His co-star Eve Myles, who plays Gwen Cooper, previously told Den Of Geek that she would be interested in making a film too.

"It would be sensational to have a beginning, a middle and an end in 90 minutes. A big, walloping Torchwood crunched into 90 minutes would be breathtaking," she said.

Torchwood begins on Thursday, July 14 on BBC One.

The Dark Knight Rises' Pittsburgh shooting

Another day, another minor update on The Dark Knight Rises' production.

It has been announced that Christopher Nolan's epic bat-threequel will be shooting scenes at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, under the sneaky working title Magnus Rex.

But this report is a little more tantalising than it sounds, as CMU's website gave some rather intriguing details about the scenes that would be taking place.

What follows is mildly spoilery, so skip the next few paragraphs if you fancy going into TDKR completely cold:

Apparently, the location shooting involves: "an explosion, a prison break, precision stunt driving, gunfire, atmospheric smoke, and controlled pyrotechnic explosions."

Also: "One character drives a motorcycle through the fourth floor lobby, out the front doors and down the steps onto Fifth Ave."

We didn't need to be whipped into any more of a frenzy about the scale of this trilogy-closer, but those appetite-whetting details have sent us over the edge.

In other news, it is being widely reported that the first teaser trailer (and poster) for The Dark Knight Rises will be doing the rounds with Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

It makes sense, given that Harry Potter is pretty much Warner Bros' biggest movie of 2011, and with TDKR due out in almost exactly one year's time, it seems like the ideal opportunity to launch some early promo material.

The Dark Knight Rises
opens on 20 July 2012.

Emma Watson what's Next

With the final chapter in the Harry Potter franchise out in theaters next Friday, what's next for 21-year-old actress Emma Watson?
But, Watson is working on two post-Harry Potter projects, the first being My Week With Marilyn, the Marilyn Monroe feature starring Oscar nominee Michelle Williams in the title role. Watson will play Lucy and joins an ensemble that includes Eddie Redmayne, Dominic Cooper, Julia Ormond, Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, Toby Jones and Dougray Scott.

Directed by Simon Curtis, My Week With Marilyn -- scheduled for a Nov. 4 release -- is based on Colin Clark's memoir which details writer-director Laurence Olivier and Monroe's relationship during the production of The Prince and the Showgirl, which was released in 1957. Watson's role in the movie is a small one.

The second project is the big-screen adaptation of Stephen Chbosky's The Perks of Being a Wallflower, slated for a 2012 release. The movie is based off the book of the same name, which centers on an introverted high school freshman Charlie who makes friends with high school seniors Samantha and Patrick. They introduce him to the world of sex, drugs and complicated relationships. Watson plays Samantha, the lead female character in Wallflower and who is Patrick's step-sister.

Production on Wallflower began in early May and took place around Pittsburgh, Penn. In addition to Watson, the cast includes Logan Lerman as Charlie, Paul Rudd, Mae Whitman, Nina Dobrev as Charlie's sister, Kate Walsh, Dylan McDermott, Ezra Miller and Johnny Simmons.

Arterton to conduct new choir film

Gemma Arterton is to star as the conductor of a 'rock choir' in a new British film co-starring Vanessa Redgrave and Terence Stamp.

The film called Song For Marion has been inspired by the surge in progressive community choirs around the country, spurred on by hit TV show Glee, and will feature music from Motorhead, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder and Cyndi Lauper, the Daily Mail reports.

Vanessa, 74, will play Marion who is a member of the local choir in the north-east of England, and she and her conductor, played by Bond girl Gemma, are both keen to get her retired husband Arthur, played by Priscilla Queen Of The Desert star Terence, to join.

Christopher Eccleston has also been cast as the son who has a difficult relationship with his father.

Producer Ken Marshall, from Steel Mill Pictures, revealed: "Both Vanessa and Terence can sing, and each has a big solo spot number", adding that Vanessa's number is a classic ballad "that will have you crying into your shirt."

The film will be directed by Paul Andrew Williams, whose debut, gritty drama London To Brighton, won much critical acclaim.

The film begins shooting for six weeks at the end of July on location in and around County Durham.

Rosario Dawson loved comedy in Zookeeper

Rosario Dawson has revealed that she particularly enjoyed the physical comedy aspect in Zookeeper.

The Sin City star stated that she found her latest film to be a nice change of pace after taking on a variety of serious roles.

"The physical comedy stuff was actually the best stuff for me," Dawson said in an interview with Hollywood News. "I'm a pretty goofy person who can be very demonstrative, so that was great for me to not have to sell every emotion with just a look, being super subtle and burying the context in one line."

Dawson continued: "It was about whole scenes, having that much fun where you can really disappear into a moment and have a great time. It was just fantastic to have that many moments in one film."

Rebecca Gibney lands dream role in Mental

Rebecca Gibney has revealed her excitement at landing a "dream" movie role.

The Australian actress, who is best known for playing Julie in family television drama Packed to the Rafters, has been cast alongside Toni Collette in PJ Hogan's new gritty film Mental.

Gibney told The Daily Telegraph: "I'm 46 and it's my first big film. It's dreamy... it's a dream come true. I've had a few small roles but just little bits and pieces and this is a larger role and to work alongside Toni Collette... it's great. I'm really excited."

She also revealed that it has been "fun" having to put on 12kg to play an exhausted mother-of-five in the movie, saying: "It was great. It's like being pregnant. You can eat whatever you want. In the beginning it was like, `Wow, ice cream, peanut butter, everything', you know."

However, Gibney added that she is "not going to worry about" losing the weight straight away afterwards, as "Julie Rafter is an "older mum" and she doesn't "think there will be anything wrong with carrying a bit of extra weight".

The star has previously admitted that she sometimes suffers from body image issues, saying: "When I despair about my stomach, my husband reminds me that it carried our incredibly beautiful son. I still look in the mirror and wonder where that extra roll, the cellulite and wrinkles came from."

Filming on Mental is scheduled to start in two weeks' time and will hopefully wrap three weeks before Gibney resumes filming Packed to the Rafters in October.

Gibney was nominated for two Logie Awards earlier this year. Although she missed out on the prestigious Gold Logie award, she was named 'Most Popular Actress' for her Packed to the Rafters role.

Watson plotting Potter cast reunion

Emma Watson has said she is already "scheming" to find a way to work with Harry Potter co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint again.

The stars of the hit film series have grown up together, working on the films over the last 10 years, but at the final world premiere in London's Trafalgar Square an emotional Emma revealed they are already looking to the future.

She said: "They are like my brothers. I really hope we'll find a way to work together again. We're already scheming so..."

JK Rowling who wrote the best-selling books which created the magical world, previously said this was the end of the series.

But after being moved by the thousands of fans who had travelled from all over the world for the premiere, she joked she might write another instalment.

Rowling teased: "Well if Dan phones me and begs in ten years I'll bang out a script for him! But I'm not thinking that's going to happen..."

One of the film's new stars, Arthur Bowen, who plays Harry Potter's son at the end of the film, held out some hope a new generation might keep the stories going.

He said: "We'll have to ask JK Rowling to write another book. She's going to be here tonight isn't she? We can ask her."

Tears as Potter curtain comes down

Daniel Radcliffe has told Harry Potter fans the films would be with them "for the rest of their lives".

Thousands of people flooded into central London to say an emotional goodbye to the hugely popular series at the world premiere of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part Two.

Stars including Emma Watson and Rupert Grint spent hours on the red carpet, which stretched from Trafalgar Square to Leicester Square, signing autographs for fans. The night ended with author JK Rowling joining the cast and crew on a stage in the square where they addressed fans.

Emma, who wiped away tears, thanked her co-star Rupert for making her laugh while he admitted making the films had been "the best part of my life".

Rowling was also tearful thanking the actors for "the amazing things they did for my favourite characters". Turning to the fans, she said: "Thank you for queuing up for the books for all those years, for camping out in a wet Trafalgar Square."

She then pleaded with the fans, who were chanting 'Thank You' back to her, to stop, saying "No, no, I'm already crying."

Daniel Radcliffe got one of the night's biggest cheers when he told fans: "Each and every person, not just here in this square but around the world who have watched these films for the last 10 years, they will always carry the films with them for the rest of their lives".

Fans had been arriving in London all week for the premiere with many of them camping in the square for days, often dressed as characters from the hit films.

Other cast members who walked up the red carpet included Robbie Coltrane, who plays Rubeus Hagrid, Tom Felton who plays Draco Malfoy and Julie Walters who plays Molly Weasley.

Eve Myles Torchwood film would be incredible

Torchwood star Eve Myles has admitted that she would love to star in a film version of the sci-fi drama.

The actress, who plays Gwen Cooper, told Den of Geek that she would "absolutely" be willing to appear in a Torchwood movie.

"[That] would be incredible," said Myles. "It would be sensational to have a beginning, a middle and an end in 90 minutes. A big, walloping Torchwood crunched into 90 minutes would be breathtaking."

Myles also suggested that a Torchwood film would be "a fantastic give back" to the show's loyal viewers.

"If we did do a movie, it would be... fantastic [for] the fans who have followed us from day one," she said. "I think [series creator] Russell [T Davies] is capable of doing anything."

Torchwood: Miracle Day begins tomorrow night at 10pm on Starz in the US and on Thursday, July 14 at 9pm on BBC One in the UK.

Animal Farm For the Big Screen

It’s like everyone is adapting a selection from your high school reading list for the big screen this week! First, David Schwimmer announced that he was commissioning a project based on Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle and now Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt and star Andy Serkis are working on a performance-capture adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the project is still “in its early stages” but that the pair, who collaborated on this summer’s Apes blockbuster, will work together on the script and use the actor’s U.K. motion-capture studio The Imaginarium. Serkis, who portrays a gorilla opposite James Franco in Apes, is already set to star as one of the characters.

“I don’t want to give too much away,” Wyatt told EW about the casting of the novel’s memorable characters, which include Napoleon, Snowball and Old Major. “We want to get the best actors for the role,” he says. “It would be the same as if we were doing a stage production. [And] with Andy as our lead-in, I feel that’s good enough for me right now.”

Panasonic says "Hollywood damaged 3D

Panasonic Marketing Director Andrew Denham has criticised Hollywood for releasing substandard 3D movies.

At the recent Intellect Consumer Electronics show he made some pretty scathing remarks

"It all comes back to quality," Denham said. "Hollywood damaged 3D by rushing so many badly converted films out in the Avatar's wake."

He added, "What we need now is the next level, the next Avatar. And that's a big ask, I think."

Denham was not alone in his disapproval. Channel Director of Sky 3D John Cassey seemed to agree, "It's very easy to make bad 3D."

He told the show's panel, "At Sky we only make native 3D programmes, and our first stage of production is always to forget about the 3D altogether.”

With industry giants like Panasonic and Sky making such incendiary remarks, could the future of 3D be under threat?

Rosie: Don't do stunts in heels

Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley has confessed she struggled to balance her taste for high fashion with gruelling stunt scenes during filming of Transformers: Dark Of The Moon.

The Burberry model said she tried to integrate her personal style into the role of Carly during her big screen debut.

"I love fashion and it's such a big part of my life," she said. "I really wanted to bring that to my character and make her kind of fashionable."

But the 24-year-old quickly learned the difficulties of wearing heels during filming. "One thing I learned about this movie with the wardrobe was to try and persuade the director not to make you wear heels all the way through an action sequence," she laughed.

"And if you could get jeans that you can fit stunt pads down, that might be a good idea too."

Rosie also spoke about the first-day nerves she experienced on set and how she was scared about what to expect as Megan Fox's replacement.

She revealed: "I was definitely worried that I wasn't going to be welcomed, and you know, I was going to feel like the new girl at school, but no, that really wasn't the case.

"On my first day of work I was so nervous and everybody from the cast to the crew, everybody who worked on that movie came over and introduced themselves and welcomed me to set, and embraced me and said how happy they were for me to be there."

And the Burberry model described how her co-star Shia LaBeouf helped her get through her first film shoot.
"He was always there to help me and hold my hand and baby me through the whole thing," she said.

Both actresses are reported to have earned $30 million (£18.7m) over the past 12 months, with the top ten women on the list raking in a combined $218 million (£136m).

Jolie's income came from movies including Salt and The Tourist, while Parker earned from Sex and the City 2 and repeats of the TV show - which she produced - alongside her fashion and beauty lines.

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon tied for third place on the list, taking home an estimated $28 million each (£17.5), while Julia Roberts and Twilight actress Kristen Stewart also ranked high with purported earnings of $20 million (£12.4m).

Johnny Depp close to Pirates 5 deal

Johnny Depp could play Captain Jack Sparrow in a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film.

The actor, who is currently filming vampire movie Dark Shadows, is reportedly close to signing a deal for another movie, according to The Wrap.

Depp's agent Tracey Jacobs and studio Disney have not commented on the reports.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the latest instalment in the franchise, yesterday became the eighth movie in history to gross more than $1 billion (£620m) worldwide.

Over three quarters of the film's revenue has been generated outside of the US.

A draft script for a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film has apparently already been prepared as Disney reportedly searches for a potential director.

Depp himself has previously said that his desire to reprise the role of Sparrow would come down to "[the] story, script and filmmaker".

The actor has also recently been linked with a big-screen adaptation of the 2002 novel Carter Beats the Devil.
