Emma Watson left Brown due to fame

Emma Watson, the "Harry Potter" star rumored to have been bullied out of Brown University, is finally addressing the real reason she ended her collegiate run: fame.

"I was in denial," Watson told Sunday Times' Style Magazine, explaining how the spotlight affected her decision to leave the Rhode Island university. "I wanted to pretend I wasn't as famous as I was. I was trying to seek out normality, but I kind of have to accept who I am, the position I'm in and what happened."

Last August, after wrapping filming on the eighth movie in the franchise, she famously opted for a pixie haircut to distance herself from her character Hermione Granger's long tresses.

In March, she announced she would be taking time off from Brown to complete her responsibilities on "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2" and focus on "other professional and acting projects."

Rumors that the 21-year-old had been bullied out of the institution followed soon after, when a report said quip-slinging classmates had mocked her for her fictional bookworm persona.

"It made me so sad when all this stuff came out that I left Brown because I was being bullied," she said. "It made no sense at all. Brown has been the opposite."

At the time, her rep denied bullying caused the actress to leave Brown, and Watson now insists that her cohorts didn't even seem to care about her celebrity.

"I've never even been asked for an autograph on campus. I threw a party for nearly 100 students, and not a single person put a photo on Facebook," she said. "Anyway, even if I was being given a hard time, I wasn't going to wuss out of university because someone said 'Wingardium leviosa' to me in a corridor, or 'Ten points for Gryffindor.'

"I've been dealing with the media since I was 9. If I can't stand up to a few people giving me a hard time, it's a bit pathetic, really. I've had so much worse."

Watson was said to have arranged a transfer to another university to pursue a course of study not offered at Brown; however, her recent declaration implies that she may be taking a longer academic hiatus.

The face of Lancome, who took a break from filming "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" to present a clip from the ultimate chapter in the "Harry Potter" saga at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, added that her intimidating "fame wall" also made it harder to date.

But Watson isn't the only "Harry Potter" star trying to divorce her magical child-star persona. Franchise lead Daniel Radcliffe, who played the boy wizard for a decade, has also said he's ready to move on from Hogwarts and its magical realm.

Was Watson wise to leave Brown? Are you sad to see her run as Hermione Granger end? Tell me in comments.

Green Lantern is breathtaking

Ryan Reynolds has described Green Lantern as "breathtaking".

The actor revealed that he was impressed by the superhero film upon seeing footage during a panel at this year's WonderCon event in California.

"The first time I saw it was just breathtaking. I think the first time it hit me that we really did it right was in WonderCon," he explained to MTV News.

"I'd been shooting in Africa at the time, so I flew back just to be there, and I was exhausted and they put up this 10 or 11 minutes of footage, and you could feel it going like a wave through the audience."

Reynolds added that Green Lantern exceeded all of his expectations about the project, adding: "For me, going into it, my expectations were really just to learn - not just about the character but about filmmaking like that. I was just so blown away to see what they accomplished juxtaposed with what they shot."

Reynolds recently confessed that he is already looking forward to a Green Lantern sequel.

Green Lantern will open in theatres on June 17.

Simon Pegg to pen 'World's End' "very soon"

Simon Pegg has pledged to begin work on a script for The World's End "very, very soon".

The Paul comedian teased that fans could expect a "very different" closer to his 'Cornetto Trilogy', which - like previous films Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz - will be written and directed by Edgar Wright and co-star Nick Frost.

"Edgar and me have been very determined that we're going to start in earnest very, very soon," he told Ain't It Cool News. "Not just do the same thing again, to do something very different. Not to the point of alienating people who want something, but just give people something new and something different.

"You can't just stay where you are forever. You have to mutate to survive, and I think we're going to make sure that we do that. I'd hate to become stale and predictable."

Pegg, who will juggle the project with his commitment to the upcoming Star Trek sequel, also spoke of his determination for The World's End to outdo the pictures of his similarly-minded contemporaries.

"People are already making films that are kind of like the sort of thing we might do. I want to stay a little bit ahead of the curve at least," he said.

Shia LaBeouf: 'I'm done with Transformers'

Shia LaBeouf has confirmed that he has no plans to return to the Transformers franchise.

LaBeouf is currently promoting his third and final appearance as Sam Witwicky in
Michael Bay's supposed last entry in the popular franchise, Transformers: Dark of the Moon
.

"For sure," LaBeouf told MTV News, when asked if this was really his last Transformers film.

"I'm not coming back to do another one," he explained. "I don't think Mike [Bay] will either."

Despite his decision to leave the franchise, LaBeouf said that the success of the film series means Paramount Pictures are likely to continue it in some form.

"It is still a hot property I think, especially coming out of the third one," the actor continued. "So I imagine they'll reboot it at some point with someone else."

Gary Oldman: '3D isn't important for me'

Gary Oldman has said that he is not a fan of 3D and that his children are also not keen on the technology.

The actor voices evil peacock Lord Shen in DreamWorks 3D animation Kung Fu Panda 2.

Oldman told Metro: "3D isn't important for me in any way, shape or form. My kids say to me, 'It's not in 3D, is it? Can we see the normal one?'.

"Maybe 3D was invented for films like Jackass so you can really see the vomit. But if I said, 'I'm not going to do a movie because I'm against 3D', I would be out of work."

Asked if he had seen the first Kung Fu Panda, Oldman said: "I did and I loved it. Po's so talented. I liked the imagery and the story, and the characters made me laugh. There are a lot of movies now that are supposed to be for kids, and I find them a little cynical and a bit crude.

"I saw a commercial on TV for a horror movie and it frightened the life out of my kids. It was on at six in the evening, and they are not young. My eldest said, 'That looks really creepy', and I thought, 'That scared me!'. These are real family films."

30 Minutes or Less (2011)

Jesse Eisenberg is back at the hands of his Zombieland director, Ruben Fleischer, in 30 Minutes or Less, and this time he's got a few other funny guys by his side. Jesse stars as a 20-something slacker who works as a pizza guy and is held up during a routine delivery by a pair of amateur mob guys, Danny McBride and Nick Swardson. The gangsters strap a bomb to Jesse's chest and give him nine hours to rob a bank. So who does he go to for help? His estranged best friend, played by Aziz Ansari.

The first trailer is more focused on Jesse and Aziz, who is already stealing the show, than Nick and Danny, and there's barely a female in sight. 30 Minutes or Less is out on Aug. 12, so check out the expletive-ridden (though not nearly as much so as The Change-Up) preview below and let us know what you think!

Mark Wahlberg confirms 'The Fighter 2'

Mark Wahlberg has confirmed that The Fighter 2 will be made.

In March, director David O. Russell revealed that he would like to write the sequel, declaring that it would focus on boxer Micky Ward's famed battles with Arturo Gatti.

While attending the 2011 Spike TV Guys Choice Awards, Wahlberg was awarded the prize for 'Guy Movie Of The Year' for The Fighter. In his acceptance speech, he announced that a sequel to the Oscar-winning film is in the works.

"We left out the Arturo Gatti fights for a reason," Wahlberg said. "Because that's for The Fighter 2. We're not going to do Fighter 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 but we are going to do 2, and we're going to do the Ward-Gatti trilogy."

Ward had three fights with Gatti that took place between 2002 and 2003. Each of the fights was so brutal that the two boxers ended up in the hospital following the matches.

Chris O'Dowd for Knocked Up sequel

Chris O'Dowd is in talks to star in the follow-up to the comedy Knocked Up.

The Bridesmaids star is being eyed for the role of an employee at Paul Rudd's character's indie record company, according to Variety.

Rudd, Leslie Mann and Charlyne Yi will appear again, alongside newcomers to the cast such as Albert Brooks, Lena Dunham and Megan Fox.

Wyatt Russell, who will next be seen in Cowboys and Aliens, is also in negotiations for a role in the Judd Apatow comedy.

During a Twitter interview with Digital Spy, the IT Crowd actor said that he preferred comedic roles to dramatic, also finding them more challenging.

"I prefer comedy because I love the sound of children laughing and the money's better," he quipped.

However, O'Dowd recently revealed that he intended to be a "straight" actor before landing a comic role in the period drama Vera Drake.

Jessica Biel on romantic bike ride

Jessica Biel's motorcycle ride with Gerard Butler has sparked suggestions that the pair have begun dating.

The stars met while filming director Gabriele Muccino's upcoming film Playing the Field, the comic tale of a former professional athlete who must balance coaching his son's soccer team with his attraction to several of the players' mothers.

Biel was spotted gripping Butler tightly over the weekend as they drove down the Pacific Coast Highway on a Harley Davidson bike, a source told the New York Post's Page Six.

Reps for both Biel and Butler have denied that the pair are romantically involved.

Biel, 29, was recently praised by former boyfriend Justin Timberlake for being the "most significant" person in his life.

Butler claimed last year that he prefers to keep his romantic relationships hidden from the media in order to maintain his privacy.

Playing the Field, which also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Uma Thurman, is currently scheduled to be released next year

X-Men: First Class wins at UK box office

X-Men: First Class has topped the UK box office on its debut week on release.

The Marvel superhero prequel, starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and January Jones, pulled in £5.4 million since its opening last Wednesday to knock The Hangover Part II from the chart summit.

X-Men: First Class's total, however, falls short of the £6.6 million grossed by franchise predecessor X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009.

The Hangover Part II has so far netted £21 million in box office receipts in the UK, putting it level with the UK takings of the first instalment after just two weeks on release.

Elsewhere, three new movies - JLS: Eye Wide Open, Senna and Ready - all perform well on limited release as they chart at five, six and seven respectively.

The UK box office top ten in full:

1. (-) X-Men: First Class - £5,438,386
2. (1) The Hangover Part II - £3,826,158
3. (2) Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - £2,144,179
4. (3) Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules - £645,196
5. (-) JLS: Eyes Wide Open - £463,914
6. (-) Senna - £375,173
7. (-) Ready - £236,868
8. (6) Rio - £94.127
9. (5) Fast & Furious 5 - £77,874
10. (4) Thor - £59,994

Salt sequel is confirmed

Sony Pictures has confirmed that it has started working on a sequel to the 2010 movie Salt.

Angelina Jolie will return to play Evelyn Salt, the titular CIA agent who spent the first film on the run after being accused of being a Russian spy. Kurt Wimmer (Law Abiding Citizen) will once again pen the script, according to Deadline.

Jolie said in August of last year that she was "keen" on making a sequel to the spy thriller, but the studio decided to wait to see how the film performed internationally before pushing forward with the picture.

Director Philip Noyce will not helm the sequel, though he previously has expressed interest in returning to the film.

Noyce recently signed on to make Bloodsport opposite Jean Claude Van-Damme.

Jolie has said she was intrigued by the Salt character because she had long wanted to play the legendary spy James Bond.

Human Centipede 2 banned in the UK

Warning: This article contains language and/or sexual references that younger readers are advised to avoid.

The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) has been banned in the UK by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).

The BBFC noted that while the film's predecessor The Human Centipede I (First Sequence) was "undoubtedly tasteless and disgusting", it was also "a relatively traditional and conventional horror film" and passed it uncut with an 18 certificate.

In a statement, the board said: "The BBFC has rejected the sexually violent and potentially obscene DVD The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence). This means that it cannot be legally supplied anywhere in the UK."

The sequel centres on a man who "becomes sexually obsessed with a DVD recording of the first film". Director of the BBFC David Cooke claimed that to issue a certificate for the film "would risk potential harm... even if confined to adults".

"The Board considered whether its concerns could be dealt with through cuts," he continued. "However, given that the unacceptable content runs throughout the work, cuts are not a viable option in this case and the work is therefore refused a classification."

The film was submitted for a DVD but not theatrical release. The distributor of the film may appeal the decision within six weeks.

The BBFC explained: "Unlike the first film, the sequel presents graphic images of sexual violence, forced defecation and mutilation, and the viewer is invited to witness events from the perspective of the protagonist.

"Whereas in the first film the 'centipede' idea is presented as a revolting medical experiment, with the focus on whether the victims will be able to escape, this sequel presents the 'centipede' idea as the object of the protagonist's depraved sexual fantasy."

Director Tom Six has claimed that he will make a trilogy of Human Centipede films

Mila Kunis: 'I'm not a sex symbol'

Mila Kunis has admitted that she is slightly uncomfortable with being thought of as a sex symbol.

Kunis noted that while she is thankful to be considered appealing by moviegoers, she feels that she cannot measure up to the great Hollywood beauties of the past.

"I'm flattered, but I'm not that person," she told LA Confidential magazine. "Sophia Loren is a sex symbol. If watching TiVo and eating Pinkberry in sweatpants is sexy, then I'm your gal."

Kunis went on to explain that she is lucky to have experienced success at a very young age.

"I'm incredibly blessed," she said. "I started acting when I was 9 years old, and if you would have told me that, at 27, this is where I'd be, I wouldn't have believed it."

Her Friends with Benefits co-star Justin Timberlake poked fun at rumours that the pair are dating by gratuitously groping the actress during last night's MTV Movie Awards.

Friends with Benefits is released on July 22 in the US and on September 2 in the UK

New 'Deathly Hallows: Part 2' clip unveiled

Emma Watson has presented a clip from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards.

The 21-year-old took the stage to present a sneak peek of the final instalment of the Harry Potter series.

The clip in question features an extended look at a scene that takes place in the Forbidden Forest. In it, Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) believes Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) has refused to confront him until he stops Harry just outside the Death Eaters' camp. The two attack each other and the preview transitions into a series of different shots from the film.

Watson admitted last month that she was terrified by certain scenes in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, stating that the special effects on the film often left her in shock.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 opens in cinemas in the US and the UK on July 15

X-Men' producer: 'There's too much 3D'

X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner has opened up about why X-Men: First Class was not released in 3D.

At the recent Producers Guild of America's annual Produced By conference, Donner spoke about the newly-released prequel, stating that filmmakers chose not to shoot the movie in 3D due to overexposure of the technology, according to The Wrap.

"We chose not to do 3D," said Donner. "I believe the movie itself tells you whether it should be 3D. And I believe there's a little too much 3D right now. I think, especially in this economy, parents don't always want to spend that extra money."

Donner's co-producer Ralph Winter went on to declare that making a film in 3D does not always make sense.

"I understand the business decision, because you can get five bucks more per ticket. But it doesn't always make sense creatively… I saw a movie a couple of weeks ago… and I probably shouldn't say its name, but the initials were 'Priest'."

X-Men: First Class star James McAvoy recently announced that he hopes to make two more X-Men films to round out a new trilogy.

Movies @ The Mill - Season 1 Programme

Details p

It's with genuine excitement that I release my first season of film programming for the Theatre at the Mill in Newtownabbey.  A lot of time was spent with the question of What direction should the programme take?  Previous outings with the Movie Bar and the one off events that have taken place over the years have all had a very distinctive feel that was always an attempt at originality and the presentation of film in original and entertaining ways but had within it a clear sense that it's what I want to show.

The renovated Theatre at the Mill is a wonderful venue with an amazing future ahead of it and it was the idea of a multi-disciplined venture that ultimately held by enthusiasm for the longest period of time, long enough to deliver the programme.

As Executive Producer and Co-Creator of Indiana Jones (along with Steven Spielberg) George Lucas has been responsible for a character that has increased the wealth of the action adventure genre and stands the test of time in it’s original format as a work of art.

Witness for the Prosecution - Howard The Duck
A film so bad that, as Executive Producer, George Lucas has turned his back refusing to acknowledge the films existence but yet it does exist and is little more than visual popcorn.  A hacked effort of a lovable “Ewok” character in the real world.  Howard is the grandfather of Jar Jar Binks and should not go unpunished.

R.I.P. James Arness

James Arness, the television icon and the star of the Western series Gunsmoke, one of the medium's longest-running shows, has died.

He was 88. The weekly drama wrapped its run in 1975, and then Arness reprised the role in five made-for-TV movies from 1987 to 1994. A World War II veteran from Minnesota who received the Purple Heart, Arness began his acting career in the 1947 film The Farmer's Daughter opposite Loretta Young and appeared in such John Wayne movies as Hondo and Big Jim McLain. He also was the creature in the 1955 sci-fi horror film The Thing From Another World

Gunsmoke began its TV run in 1955 and featured Arness as Marshal Matt Dillion, who watched over the town of Dodge City and kept it clear of bad guys. Arness later made several TV appearances, including in the late 1970s TV miniseries How The West Was Won. According to his website, Arness is survived by his wife, Janet; two sons; and six grandchildren.

Stephen Fry cast in 'Borrowers' remake

Stephen Fry has joined the cast of a new adaptation of children's classic The Borrowers.

Fry revealed the existence of the project during an appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live's Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode show on Friday evening, and also confirmed that it will begin production very soon.

"Before [The Hobbit], in fact I go to South Africa. Working Title are doing The Borrowers," Fry said. "I was surprised to get this script because I remember they did The Borrowers not that long ago.

"I thought, 'Oh, that's odd', but I read the script and thought it was delightful and I had a really funny part," he continued. "That starts in a few weeks."

Although Fry refused to clarify any further details about the project, it is believed that former Shameless writer Danny Brocklehurst has penned the film's script.

Later this year, Studio Ghibli will release an English-language version of their own adaptation, called The Borrower Arrietty.

The novel has previously been adapted into both a BBC TV series as well as a 1997 film starring John Goodman and Jim Broadbent.
