McAvoy: 'First Class is like a love story'

James McAvoy has said that the dynamic between Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr in X-Men: First Class makes the film "kind of a love story".

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times' Hero Complex, the actor compared their story to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

"This is the first time in their lives [that] they've met someone who is an equal of sorts, someone who understands them and can connect and push them too," McAvoy said.

"Charles [is] fascinated with Erik (Magneto) and his potential. For Erik, Charles is the first person he's trusted to really tell about his past and the first person to understand the horrible things he's been through."

McAvoy plays Xavier in the prequel, with Michael Fassbender cast in the part of Magneto.

X-Men: First Class opens on June 2 in the UK and June 3 in the US.
