Cameron is Jekyll and Hyde, says Ioan Gruffudd

Ioan Gruffudd has described James Cameron as having a "Jekyll and Hyde" personality.

The Welsh actor worked with the director on Titanic and most recently 3D adventure film Sanctum, of which Cameron was an executive producer.

"What is extraordinary about him is, is on set he is pretty intense - bordering on insanity sometimes, or so it seems for an outsider," Gruffudd said. "Knowing where he is coming from, from a creative standpoint as an actor, I can see that he's just so, so passionate about getting it right.

"But then, in complete contrast off the set, he is the most charming, effervescent man you will ever meet. He has fantastic stories, incredible leadership qualities. It's a Jekyll and Hyde thing, really."

Gruffudd admitted that he would "jump" at the opportunity to work with Cameron again. "If the call came tomorrow, you would move mountains to work with him," he added.

However, the 37-year-old was less sure on the possibility of landing a role in either of the planned Avatar sequels.

"I don't know... because I'm established as a few characters in film, it might be hard," he said, describing Cameron's "obsession" with casting parts "perfectly". "Who knows? I'd love to work with him."

Sanctum 3D is out now on Blu-ray and DVD
