'The Wolverine' will start filming in October

Hugh Jackman has revealed that The Wolverine will begin shooting later this year.

The X-Men spinoff recently recruited James Mangold (Knight and Day) to direct after the departure of Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) earlier this year.

Jackman told Toronto radio station CHFI that the X-Men: Origins: Wolverine follow-up will likely be released in 2012.

"We shoot in October, so it will probably come out a year after that. That's usually around the timeline," he said.

The Wolverine, penned by The Usual Suspects screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie, will reportedly take the Marvel character to Japan where he trains to become a samurai.

Jackman also confirmed that he will work on an adaptation of Les Miserables with The King's Speech director Tom Hooper next year.
