Johnny Depp could play Captain Jack Sparrow in a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film.
The actor, who is currently filming vampire movie Dark Shadows, is reportedly close to signing a deal for another movie, according to The Wrap.
Depp's agent Tracey Jacobs and studio Disney have not commented on the reports.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the latest instalment in the franchise, yesterday became the eighth movie in history to gross more than $1 billion (£620m) worldwide.
Over three quarters of the film's revenue has been generated outside of the US.
A draft script for a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film has apparently already been prepared as Disney reportedly searches for a potential director.
Depp himself has previously said that his desire to reprise the role of Sparrow would come down to "[the] story, script and filmmaker".
The actor has also recently been linked with a big-screen adaptation of the 2002 novel Carter Beats the Devil.
