Lionsgate has announced that its reboot of Texas Chainsaw Massacre will be released in October 2012.
Takers director John Luessenhop will helm the 3D horror feature, while Carl Mazzocone will produce.
"I'm excited to reconceive this iconic horror classic in a contemporary setting for a new generation of horror fans to enjoy," Mazzocone says in a statement released through Shock Till You Drop.
"Both John Luessenhop and I intend to deliver a new chapter derived from Tobe Hooper's 1973 masterpiece with the goal of making it as horrifying as the original, in 3D," he added.
Bill Moseley, who starred in both The Devil's Rejects and House of a 1000 Corpses, is the only actor to have been cast so far.
The film was previously rebooted in 2003 starring Jessica Biel, who later described the filming process as one of the hardest experiences of her life.
Dimension Films are scheduled to release their 3D reboot of the Halloween franchise only three weeks later.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D is due out in cinemas on October 5, 2012.
