Movies @ The Mill - Season 1 Programme

Details p

It's with genuine excitement that I release my first season of film programming for the Theatre at the Mill in Newtownabbey.  A lot of time was spent with the question of What direction should the programme take?  Previous outings with the Movie Bar and the one off events that have taken place over the years have all had a very distinctive feel that was always an attempt at originality and the presentation of film in original and entertaining ways but had within it a clear sense that it's what I want to show.

The renovated Theatre at the Mill is a wonderful venue with an amazing future ahead of it and it was the idea of a multi-disciplined venture that ultimately held by enthusiasm for the longest period of time, long enough to deliver the programme.

The People Versus George Lucas
The Northern Ireland premier of the animation that took the 2010 SXSW Festival by storm.
Using a Californian court house and a smidgen of CGI the works of George Lucas goes on trial for the proposed crimes committed against the fans of his films who have become used to never have a say about the continuous restoration and reworking of the films that have forged their generation.

Witness for the Defence - Raiders of the Lost Ark
As Executive Producer and Co-Creator of Indiana Jones (along with Steven Spielberg) George Lucas has been responsible for a character that has increased the wealth of the action adventure genre and stands the test of time in it’s original format as a work of art.

Witness for the Prosecution - Howard The Duck
A film so bad that, as Executive Producer, George Lucas has turned his back refusing to acknowledge the films existence but yet it does exist and is little more than visual popcorn.  A hacked effort of a lovable “Ewok” character in the real world.  Howard is the grandfather of Jar Jar Binks and should not go unpunished.

Stay until the end of the screenings in order to cast your vote in the case of the People Vs. George Lucas
